So what you are then is either a) he doesn't give a shit or b) he has a death wish or c) it's not really what the media is hyping it up to be, right? Personally? I would lean toward C if he says he is ready to go.
The Jets finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs, plus they don't have a very professional atmosphere with the way Rex runs things and the type of players that they sign and make captains. Miami was only a game or two behind the Jets, so it would be very tempting for a player at his age to go to a warmer climate where he still felt he could have a shot at the playoffs. I think Miami is in a better situation to take on a QB like Brady than the Jets are at this point.
The Dolphins would be an ideal place for Manning to go, but I'd hate to see him in the division. Although, I don't think he'll ever be the same again because of the neck injury.

What if Sparano got wind of some initial plans for the Fish to pursue Manning before (or even after) he got fired? The Jets could end up feigning interest in Manning just to sabotage it or drive the price tag up.
