Feel free to add names of potential players that we can grab. Realistically later round talent but draft sleepers. I'm doing research and saw two potential guys. Gerrell Robinson of Arizona State (Senior) 6'4" 222lbs 77 rec 1397 Yards 7Tds Rishard Matthews of Nevada (Senior) 6'2" 215lbs 91 rec 1364 8Tds Out of the two I liked Matthews a little bit more because he is a punt Returner as well and he has explosion and breakaway speed Robinson is more of straight line speed very similar to Plaxico and will be a redzone target big time.
Name: Derek Moye College: Penn State Measurables: 6'5, 210 lbs, 4.50 40 yard dash Senior Year Stats: 40 receptions, 654 yards, 3 touchdowns Junior Year Stats: 53 receptions, 885 yards, 8 touchdowns Sophomore Year Stats: 48 receptions, 785 yards, 6 touchdowns Projected Round: 6th to Priority UDFA Strengths: Size, leaping ability, good straight line speed, high effort (blocks well down field), high character (named Captain) Weaknesses: Never dominated a game, inconsistent hands as a senior I like Moye a lot as a Malcolm Floyd kind of wide receiver. I've watched a ton of Penn State games and aside from Silas Redd at running back, this kid was the lone bright spot on the Nittany Lion offense. He showed a ton of promise a sophomore posting those numbers with Daryll Clark, but in the subsequent two years Penn State has not had a decent quarterback -- juggling the job between Matt McGloin and true sophomore Rob Bolden. The passing game has been erratic for the entirety of the last two seasons, but Moye was able to score consistently and make plays deep down field. Moye had 485 yards and 3 TDs in the first 6 games this year but then suffered a foot injury forcing him to miss two games. He continued to be hobbled by the injury for the rest of the year, failing to find the end zone. After watching Moye several times and in person, I have to believe that if he played in a Big 12 spread offense with a consistent passing game that he'd be a 3rd-5th round prospect right now. He reminds me - when healthy - of a young Malcolm Floyd. Moye consistently gets open deep while possessing good straight line speed, and can out jump most any DBs in the red zone. Since we're moving on without Plaxico, Moye would be a great replacement. He could bring close to the same production immediately but also provide a high character guy and team captain (helped Penn State players weather the Sandusky scandal) in our locker room that the Jets definitely need.
Gerrell Robinson is a guy that I really like. Very easily could move up in the rankings if he can run well, the only thing about that though is there is so much talent above him he can't really skyrocket. I'd love to see him as a Jet.
B.J Cunningham - Michigan State - 6'2" 215 - He had 79 receptions 1300 yards 12 tds in his senior year.(9 tds in the last 5 games of the season.) 50 receptions 600 yards 9 tds in his junior year. If you can find film on him on youtube, he's pretty damn good. He can go up in the endzone and get the ball, as well as get some YAC. He's a perfect replacement for Plaxico, if not an upgrade.
What does everyone think of Juron Criner? He has very nice size (6’2 220lbs) and can stretch the field. On top of that, he has great hands (they are huge, like baseball gloves- 10 1/2 inches which is the biggest at the senior bowl). Does he have any character issues to be concerned about?
I like Criner just watched some highlights and he is very quick , elusive, and has great hands. He also has that start and stop speed that we need.
Jets rumored to really like Gerell Robinson. http://www.ganggreennation.com/2012/1/23/2729041/jets-scout-the-senior-bowl
Had Robinson going to us in the 6th in my Mock, starting to really doubt he's going to be available then
I like Danny Coales from VaTech. 6 foot 200 pounds. 60 receptions for a tad over 900 yards. Danny returned punts and punted for VaTech. I'd certainly wouldn't be upset if he was a day three pick.
If were talking guys that aren't first or definite second rounders, I really like AJ Jenkins of Illinois, all 3 Arkansas receivers and Stephen Hill of Georgia tech. I see all these guys making an impact in the NFL. If were talking guys I unconditionally LOVE, were talking tj graham of NC St. (Deep threat, could see him end up being a big time receiver in the NFL) and Jeff fuller who is SEVERALLY undervalued because of this past year when he was struggling with some injury problems. The kid is gonna be a stud. If we draft a WR in round 1, I would have no problem picking up fuller aswell in round 3 or 4 if he does indeed fall. The kid is gonna be special imo.
I totally disagree about Fuller. He was exposed at the Senior Bowl. He's slow, can't get open and has stone hands. If the Jets draft him, I will puke.
