That would leave a mark. And it would be consistent with the relationship the two teams have had over the last decade.

    (1) After one preseason game and a few short weeks of practice, what are your initial thoughts on the Jets going into the 2006 season?

I think the passing game looked decent against Tampa. The running game is really bad. I mean really bad. As for the defensive, they is still alot of work to be done up front on the D-Line.

    (2) If we're really going to do this "rebuilding" thing, just how much patience do you have, and when would it be trying on your patience?

This is just the nature of the buisness, when it comes to rebuilding. I think we need to give them at least 2 seasons to get things rolling. It might be a bumpy road, but we need to hang in there.

    (3) What would you consider a successful 2006 season?

A successful season to me would be 6 and10 or 7 and 9.

    (4) If the Jets were only to win ONE game, which game would you most want to win and why?

Against the PHINS on XMAS night. That would make my Holiday since I have to be at my in-laws this year for XMAS and they like the PHINS.

After one preseason game and a few short weeks of practice, what are your initial thoughts on the Jets going into the 2006 season?
I think the defense, a relative strength for a while, is now in a transitional period. It remains to be seen if a 3-4 can be implemented even on a part-time basis.

I like the additions to the offensive line and hope the line will become a strength by the end of the season. But the running backs look iffy, so can they take advantage even if the line comes together?

As for Chad - I can't bear to watch him play at the moment in case he gets injured again. It will be week six before I can open my eyes when he drops back to pass...

If we're really going to do this "rebuilding" thing, just how much patience do you have, and when would it be trying on your patience?
I will have exactly as much patience as it takes. I've waited 22 years so far and I don't plan on changing horses in mid stream - even though it's turned out to be more of an ocean than a stream. The Jets will get there and when they do I can put a big, fat, smug smile on my face. Until then I'll just enjoy watching them play because, slushy as it may sound, I love them.

What would you consider a successful 2006 season?
A healthy, productive Chad still standing at the end of the regular season, an offensive line that is starting to show signs of dominance, a defense that can tackle running backs.

If the Jets were only to win ONE game, which game would you most want to win and why?
Week 17: Oakland. It's nice to have momentum going into the offseason.

    (1) After one preseason game and a few short weeks of practice, what are your initial thoughts on the Jets going into the 2006 season?

That we are not going to be competitive.

    (2) If we're really going to do this "rebuilding" thing, just how much patience do you have, and when would it be trying on your patience?

If you are a Jet fan you must have unlimited patience and limited expectations so it really doesn't matter. Following The Jets has long ceased to be trying on my patience. They are my team, always will be my team and nothing will change that. During a game my wife once said "I think you like The Jets more than me" I told her; "I like The Dolphins more than you !!"

    (3) What would you consider a successful 2006 season?

Anything less than complete humilation. Reasonably injury free and signs of key players stepping up to their responsibilities. A good work ethic, effort and game planning. As this is clearly a rebuilding year whether it is four wins or six wins is irrelevent (providing it isn't 0/16 or 1/15).

    (4) If the Jets were only to win ONE game, which game would you most want to win and why?

Week 2 vs The Patriots. That game is live on UK TV and if we lose it I won't get to see many more and will have to rely on Internet audio streams.

I am defenitly one of those "Read only" memebers...for the most part at least, but I do have opinions on the questions asked so I thought I would take the opportunity to respond.

    (1) After one preseason game and a few short weeks of practice, what are your initial thoughts on the Jets going into the 2006 season? (a)I think Pennington looked good, but my gut is telling me that it is only a matter of time before disaster strikes. The Jets are not going to be as bad as all those writers and ESPN anylasts say they will, but they will struggle. I am hopeful for 8-8.

    (2) If we're really going to do this "rebuilding" thing, just how much patience do you have, and when would it be trying on your patience? (a) I have actually been very impressed with Mangini and his crew. He is in a tough situation and we all need to be patient. We need to give him at least 2 years with this team before we can hold him accountable. Herman had the team that could have won the big game...Coach Mangini does not. As fans, we need to be patient for at least 2 years.

    (3) What would you consider a successful 2006 season? (a)8-8. If this team wins half its games, it will be a huge success to me. We still have a lot of holes to fill. I also want to see this young group improve. That is the defeinition of rebuilding.

    (4) If the Jets were only to win ONE game, which game would you most want to win and why? (a) Patriots...either home or at Foxbourgh. Man!!!!! I want to beat them so badly.

Great post neid92...agree with a lot of it. Boy oh boy...if we were to start a poll on "if the jets only win one game...who would you want to beat and when"..something tells me this christmas night game is going to be something very special...regardless of our record.

    Welcome aboard!! great post.

Loved this post....really could identify with it.

You even threw a curveball with the Raider game...thinking with your head not your heart.

Although Im sticking with the Dolphin game...that last game would be big too.

    Really enjoyed this.

    (1) After one preseason game and a few short weeks of practice, what are your initial thoughts on the Jets going into the 2006 season?

I keep the thought that we are rebuilding in the front of any thoughts firstly.
After watching the Bucs game , our 2nd D against their 2nd O I'm concerned about the depth overall , we got steamrolled. But its only one game and look for signs of improvement in that area.
On offense , I was like everybody else pleased with Chads and Kellens performance and the way the chains were moved. #1 concern , we need a RB , but who????

    (2) If we're really going to do this "rebuilding" thing, just how much patience do you have, and when would it be trying on your patience?

If at the end of the season I still see the same dumb mistakes being made , it will worry me , what we are looking for are signs of improvement , small steps. I will give Mangini 2~3 years based on results.

    (3) What would you consider a successful 2006 season?

Any over 4~12 and the way in which the team and coaches perform. I'm also looking for long term under-achievers to step up or look to be gone next season.

    (4) If the Jets were only to win ONE game, which game would you most want to win and why?

Hmmm tough one that , only one??? My first thought was NE home or away , but I know I just couldn't stomach the Phins doing us in our own back yard so it has to be them, Phins.

Well I am up for some posts this year. I am better prepared then I have ever been. Got my 6 foot screen, HDTV, Sunday Ticket (maybe superfan) and as many of the sports channels as possible.

Granted I will probably be the only fanboy in Nevada, but for some damn reason I have always loved this team.......even after growing up in up-state NY.

Any Jets fans in Reno/Sparks can pay admission on Sundays
