From what I have read, they offered Bennett the 3yr, 12 million deal not McCareins. After he accepted it, they were comfortable moving Justin. This had nothing to do with trade value. Who knows, without giving Reese/Fisher some truth serum we'll never no for sure anyway.....
I liked the J-mac trade at the time,i like the player and i think he can be a good player. I reckon he is a victim of circumstance in some respects.McCariens was a great fit opposite Moss, the big tall possession receiver opposite the speedy receivers.McCariens best routes were Moss's worst, the slant, curl back and the cut back while Moss's downfield routes made up for McCariens lack of speed. But then Coles came aboard, and all of sudden McCariens isn't a nice compliment to our number 1 receiver.Coles' best routes are he same as J-macs (although for Coles it's to do with his route running and toughness where as J-Mac it's his size). We now don't have a true downfield threat who can stretch the field, and it's not as if we're going to replace our number 1 receiver. You then had last years game of musical chairs at QB.McCariens seems to take a while to develop a rapport with his QBs(see his slow start in 04) which is probably down to the fact that his best routes work when the QB and WR are in sync with their timing. That takes time to build, especially when the QB can't rely on the receivers route running as per Coles. And finally i have to agree with Jetsin2004,i reckon he's been made an example of by the coaching staff.McCariens had always seem to of been a hard worker so i seems unlikely that he was really out of shape heading into camp, but he was the one who failed and got on Mangini's tits.He should of done a better job in the conditioning test but it does seem Mangini is trying to drive home the point for other players. People seem to forget that he was beat up last year, and he was playing for a headcoach who had his mind on BBQs in KC.I've always found it kind of odd how McCariens gets the most criticism, people act as if we were going to the superbowl with somebody other than McCariens. It's not as if he was the only player on the team last year who under performed. I guess most people hate him because they feel he wasn't worth a 2nd round pick which there is some truth to.But on the other hand,do you honestly believe that the player that Bradway would pick with that 2nd round pick, with Herm as coach, would of had a more productive career then McCariens. Most people will remember him as a guy who didn't pan out,but I'll also remember him for winning a game we should of lost(@Clevland 04) and getting 80+ yards in both 04 playoff games.
Its easy to say everyone sucks and them someone does suck you act all high and mighty. You did nothing
Champ when you say you hate every decision is a bad one then you'll always be right about things like this. Now I know it's probably a safe bet for you, having suffered through years of terrible decisions by the Jets, but it still doesn't make you any more right than a broken clock that's correct twice a day.
The way you spell around here, I think it's more likely that you bought the wrong stock and just lucked out when you went to sell it.
I got you beat. I was saying he was worthless the day we traded for him. This was on the ESPN message board though; I didn't know about this site yet. Maybe it doesn't count then.
I'm not going to say you are wrong here since I don't know the inner workings of the Tennesse frotnt office like you do but this doesn't make any sense. Wouldn't you want to keep the better player rather than the one that would yield less in a trade?
McCareins had a good season 2 years ago, and then had a bad season last year. The difference? 5 different QBs threw his way last year. The guy is a good #3 receiver, and if we can get a decent running game this season, my hopes are that he'll be OK. Champ, don't even reply to me with your nonsense, becuase no matter what you say, I will disagree with it. So just let it go.
Yeah champ...and you said Vilma wasnt good and he ended up being a pro bowl player. naysayers 1 champ1 Now what.
I bet you were waiting for me to tell you I was wrong. Sorry to dissapoint. I never thought he was a quality #2. Great topic once again. Right up your alley.
This is so Champ. The thread title would indicate that the people who didn't like McCariens were wrong. That however, is apparently the exact opposite of what he meant (using my Star Treck universal language translator). That second sentence is even more illiterate. Please, what in the world does this mean? : Let us if you all are mice or man & admit you were wrong. :breakdance: Talk about misinformation... he can't be accused of misinformation, because what he types isn't decipherable! He reminds me of Dustin Hoffman in "Rain Man". He can tell you how many years, days , hours and minutes since the Jets won the Super Bowl. But, coherent sentences? I think if he ever generated one, it was long, long before the Jets ever won the Super Bowl. My translation of the above sentence: "I want lettuce on my nice sandwhich for my manly appetite. Last time, you forgot the lettuce."
Your memory is real, real short which is why probably you need some assistance. JV was a REPLACEMENT for Zach T when Zach back out of the game. JV WAS NOT voted into the game on his own merit
Then why reply in the 1st place purveyor of MISINFORMATION xoncerning Herm? How come you have not switched loyalities to the KCCs since your love boy is now there? Going to the NYG/KCC game tonight to support your man?
What is the difference SLW I benefited by what occur. When U buy stock all U need is the symbol like HLSH or UNP or T or the symbol of the stock U wish to purchase. I see by what U posted U know zero of stock trading besides having zero knowledge of FB as well.
