I think they will have a bad offense, but not as bad as last year. I mean, basically, they have exactly the same problems as last season... except now they're at least starting out the season with young talent on the OL.
I don't think we'll be worse than last year. More stability at QB and the OL. I still think we'll suck offensively, but last year was disturbingly bad.
Even though I expect the Jets to be among the bottom of the barrel, in terms of offense, I doubt they'd be as bad as last year. (1) Pennington, even as a shell of his former self, is still an improvement over Brooks Bollinger. (2) WRs and TEs should be better with a competant QB throwing to them. (3) Even though the O-Line features some inexperienced rookies, it's still better than having Fabini play LT and Kendall playing C. (4) If the passing game and run blocking is slightly improved over last season, then the running game should improve as a result, since we have basically the same crew of RBs returning (I will not believe Martin is retiring until it's official).
Just wait until the KoolAid addicts (Homers) get a view of this thread. We're only supposed to think happy thoughts about the 2006 season and our QB/Offense. We've been saying this all along. This is what a full blown, rebuilding effort will look like. Its been a long time coming and waaay overdue. I wonder if the Koolaid Korps have the stomach for it. All of us long term Jet fans already have steeled ourselves for this upcoming season. I hope for the sanity of some, they put the koolaid down and buy into the rebuilding efforts of our new FO/CS. They'll be miserable if they don't....
I hope we don't ruin the rebuilding by trying to bring in old/crappy/washed up/other teams failed project players. Lets just go into the year and see what we have. If one of the RB's pans out to be starter worthy, then we have less to worry about next season. I'll be more than happy to suck this year if we suck in the right way.
This is a little off topic, but how is a massive rebuilding effort way overdue? 2 seasons ago the Jets were a semi decent kicker or clock manager away from the AFC Championship game. I'd say that the rebuilding process is right on time.
no way we can be worse than last year the OL is much improved even without experience in some areas the rbs are the same only a year more experienced/better blocking all 4 qbs are better than last years(in that even a seasoned bb is better than last years) baker is healthy amd the wrs have a qb who can throw to them we upgraded everywhere on offense.....its just its not enough no flashly players...alot of questionmarks...we still will be terrible to mediocre people are still comparing us to 2 years ago...or the healthy team going into last season...not the team that actually played
offense will improve, but i think our defense will dip......but not by much its not like the D stood a chance last year(being on the field the whole time)...an improved offense would be a huge help to the D
I think we'll be a good team and will suprise alot of people during the middle and end of the season. We will be definately be better than last year.
To say the Jets are in trouble is an understatement. Its quite pathetic that people have already thrown this season away. You don't just call it quits. I know its a rebuilding year, but when I see people no wanting to get veterans to help this season its sickening. If we all agree its pointless we suck then you should throw in the towel and tell the NFL "excuse us while we rebuild". Its disgusting and I think we should try to win.
I hate to say it but I think we will be alot like the Phins last year.... play poorly early on but as the season gets better I wouldn't be surprised to see this team knock a playoff quality team out of the mix.
I'm gonna leave 2004 out of this since that topic usually developes a life of its own. We over achieved in 2002 and 2004. We should have started getting younger and faster back then instead of holding on to Mo Lewis and Marvin Jones. That Herman Bradway tried the "plug em in" theory only hurt us down the road. Yeah, we made playoff appearances but at what cost? We kept an aging RB. We kept adding useless KC rejects in some misguided attempt to recreate both Tampa Bay AND the Chefs in New York. The one thing I'm just now beginning to notice from a Jets HQ is FORESIGHT. Mangini seems to be looking ahead, not trying to be the Patriots but instead, blazing a new path. Now the Rebuilding process is hopefully in full swing. I don't want to see more washed up trash from other team's benches filling our roster so we can go out and win 5 games..That's how things USED to be done in Jets HQ. Lets pray things have changed..
you are so correct on the foresight, and that is why I am encouraged. I think Tangini THINKS about the future instead of throwing 7 years deals to Chrebet, Martin and Chad like idiots have done in the past.
