http://www.chargers.com/news/headline_detail.cfm?news_key=2550 It's becoming clearer to me that San Diego is putting themselves in a position to trade Rivers. Brees & Rivers salaries are too much for one position, and the Chargers have made a long-term offer to Brees. By re-signing Feeley, the Chargers will most likely make him the #2 and pick-up a late round QB in the draft. Rivers is the obvious odd-man out. The Jets' new OC has already coached Rivers for 2 years, and given Mangini's lack of offensive prowess, Schotty won't have a problem making his case for getting Rivers. Whether it's using Abraham, cash or picks, the Jets WILL get Rivers from San Diego. It's just a matter of time. Am I crazy?
I think brees' shoulder is worse than Pennington's and they know it. I think they gave brees a lowball offer knowing he would refuse it, but sending out a message to the rest of the league that he will be healthy in order to trade him. don't think it will work seeing how anyone that will trade for him will give him a physical
http://www.footballspeakers.com/h/rivers/index.php By the way, I'm changing my screen name to 'Rivers Homer"
Agreed with this. They want to sign Brees for a low value or they will tag him and search for a trade. Chargers are willing to let Rivers try to win the battle from Feeley.
Well we can only hope, because rivers' first couple of years are dirt cheap on the cap, we don't have the money for brees.
They will let Brees hit the market and find out no one wants to pay for a QB with a bum shoulder except the Jets, but they can't afford to pay him. So then Brees will go crawling back to the Chargers saying he'll take anything, just sign him. They will get their QB and for half the money they would probably have to spend. AND they keep Rivers.
You can't possibly believe that, can you?? Brees hits the open market, there will be teams lining up for his services and is as good as gone from SD. I still can't believe they will just let him walk but thats what it looks like right now..
Rivers on the Jets' new OC "He's awesome. He's fun to be around and at the same time valuable in the preparation from week to week. He is a great teacher. . . . He has a knack for relating to players. Pick a guy, they all think highly of him. I know Drew (Brees) feels the same way."
So let me get this right, we aree going to get Rivers becasue the Chargers got touchy, touchy, Feeley, Feeley. Yes, I sad that. Somebody please pee in my martini.
Went back to one of that last possible threads within my search criteria and this genius one came up- Wow I certainly missed some funny shit apparently, haha
despite how bad the OP of this thread is, this is the post that makes the thread a real gem. well done, phubbadaman.
Did anyone else think this thread was going to be about Jay Feely? I just glanced at the title and thought "wtf??!"
I forgot about the whole shoulder deal with him. There was alot of concern at the time that he may have never been the same.
so we traded up to get mark sanchez and paid him all that money started him his rookie year to just make him an expensive back up. Uh well when i type it out that kinda sounds like the jets.
