I remember the last time a Bills fan made a bet on here, I wonder if he's still sticking his head up a cow's ass.
I remember the last time a head coach guaranteed a SuperBowl. I wonder if he still has an ass the size of a cow.
Fair enough, but I still doubt that they will finish top 10. If they do, it will probably be a product of what you said... A pass happy league. I think there DL is very good, probably in the top 5-7 of the league. But I dont think there LB core or secondary is above average. They added a rookie CB, who I personally think is overrated, and have a 2nd year player across from him. An average secondary that is opportunistic and will be helped by a pretty good pass rush, thats all I really see.
Pssshhhh, cmon. Its flawless. You lose, and you change your avatar on a site that you post on a lot or you win and he changes his avatar on a site that he visits maybe once every 2 months!
What Dlines are you putting ahead of them? Gmen & San Fran are really all I would put ahead on paper. Secondary will be excellent but they could use an upgrade at one OLB spot.
Welcome to being the 2009 Jets minus a franchise quarterback. Enjoy the next few years trying desperately to plug leaks with the added bonus of a Harvard reject making Goldman Sachs money. Hey you might actually be better than the fish pretty soon! Too bad the Jets will be better than the Pats pretty soon, assuming they aren't already.
I couldn't disagree more with this. Both Dareus and Williams have played the nose in a 3-4, the position where you stuff the run. They are two outstanding interior lineman. Most d-linemen are good at one thing - either rushing the passer or stopping the run. There are very few in the league that excel at both. Dareus and Williams excel at both. Add to that Mario Williams, who is 6-6 292 lbs playing end. The guy stuffs blockers with the best of them. Chris Kelsay is on the other side, a player who has made a career of being an excellent run defender but only a marginal pass rusher. At LB, the Bills have a 2 down thumper in the middle with Kelvin Sheppard. He does one thing well: stuff the run and play between the tackles. He comes off the field in coverage situations. The Bills have another MLB who has had over 100 tackles in multiple years playing the outside in Kirk Morrison. Not a stellar player by any means, but he also does one thing well: stuff the run. If anything, our linebackers are built more for the run and are liabilities in pass coverage. Nick Barnett is the only guy who can cover well.
The only interesting thing about this thread is that it apparently proves that there are still at least three Toronto Buffoonalo fans out there despite their senile used car salesman owner and their crappy record Sent from my SGH-T679 using Tapatalk 2
The Bills finally sign a guy so now every discussion on this board gets derailed by these clowns? Or did they finally get reliable internet linked to WNY? Where were you guys when your team was finishing 6-10 every year? Oh wait - you finished 6-10 last year too... But you got Mario Williams I forgot you guys might actually be relevant next year. Talk to me in November IF that's the case. Until then STFU.
...not physically possible for Maybin to gain and hold weight? Not physically possible? You need to familiarize yourself with the laws of thermodynamics, buddy. These bills fans saying they're glad Maybin's gone. You wouldn't want to pay one of the most efficient pass rushers last year basically the minimum? I'm excited he's here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cQOzfM47lg :57 and 2:14 for Bills sacks.
If Maybin can set the edge to stay on the field most plays (more likely) and Landry can stay off the IR for the year (less likely), they'll probably be comparing our defense to the '00 Ravens and '85 Bears. But yeah, top 5 seems feasible.
Bottom line is the Jets are happy with Maybin. Guy was a total bust with Buffalo, so you guys don't like him. I have my doubts whether Maybin can keep the weight on or not, but regardless, the Jets are happy with a guy who had 6 sacks and 5 forced fumbles in 12 games as a 23-year old. Even if that's his ceiling, that's not bad for a role player. Give him a healthy offseason with one team, and I don't think it's too much to ask such a young player to keep improving. Maybin has one role: get after the quarterback. It's pretty obvious watching him last year he does that pretty well. We know Maybin sucked for the Bills. He struggled early, then the new coaching staff had no faith in him. The Jets have a specific role for him, and it happens to be what he does well. And even if Maybin is as bad as Bills fans say: the Jets still got him for nothing!
Exactly this. Even if his ceiling is role player that's fine. I suspect our rush defense will be better putting opponents in more 3rd and long situations.
Why do people keep saying this? Did Rex ever actually GUARANTEE that the Jets would win a SB? I was under the impression that he was very confident about their chances of winning a title when he first came here and had his comments taken way out of proportion.
He basically did, man. At the combine last year he was like "last 2 years I thought we would this year I know we will". And when asked about it in the context of a guarantee he never really denied it and regretted saying it.
I'd honestly take Maybin at his salary over Mario Williams at his--I think most NFL GM's would agree.
