Jets | Clement appears to have locked down starting job
    Tue, 22 Aug 2006 05:33:10 -0700

Dave Hutchinson, of the Star-Ledger, reports New York Jets ORT Anthony Clement has beaten out OT Adrian Jones for the starting job at right tackle.

Lots of people were happy about the aquisition of Clement, not saying he's John Tait...But just a solid guy who could be a nice player at RT...

Not surprised about Clement winning the job. With the subtraction of Mawae this past offseason, I had a feeling P.Kendall was going to feel kinda "stranded". They had great chemistry together. I thought the acquistion of Clement was brilliant. Give Kendall another buddy with whom he has chemistry, and the o-line will definitely improve.

thank u god. clement looked so much better on saturday. with clement, the o-line seemed better as a unit too. jones is not ready to start and never was.

  7. Thats very bad news. If Jones is not starting material by next year..we have ourselves another huge hole along the OL. Clement may survive as a short term fix..but no way should we settle for him for more than one year service as a starter

Clement missed a block on the first play of the game Saturday night, but then looked much better. Jones - playing with the second and third teams did not look good.

Under Mangini, whoever does the job gets the job - it's that simple.

Funniest thing were the people saying they didn't need to draft Ferguson because they had Adrian Jones.............. HA!

I think his assignment was to take the end and Askew was ment to pick up the linebacker.Clement did his job on that play.

well he is a decent left tackle, apparently at this point he can't cut it at right tackle, either way, fergie has the potential to be the best lt in the league so i'm happy we got him regardless

After last season if anybody could not see that AJ lack ability then you really look at the NYJs with a pair of blinders on.

Jones is a good LT, but RT is a completely different position. You need to retrain your entire body to do the opposite of everything you've learned to do.

Jones would be best served gaining a little weight and working his ass off to learn the LG spot. He's used to working on the left side, so he might just work out as the heir to Kendall, while being the backup for Ferguson this season.

We really need to address RT is next years draft, as Clement is only a stop-gap solution.

Why is this such a suprise? He is a LT and always will be...we all knew this when we were discussing the D'Brick draft choice. I wanted jones to stay at LT and draft a RT in the draft (Justice) But hey we are where we are and will fix the problem in FA next year or in the draft. What if Clemens get injured (history of back problems) we will be in a royal mess
