Eh. He jumped twice in the first half. The Giants are a solid pass rushing team though. That's their forte, actually, so it was good for Brick to see them. I'm not sold on Brick yet. Mangold I like. He ties people up. Brick is just not that massive left tackle that you see. He looks like he could play power forward for the Knicks though.

but Brick is quick and has a wing-span.

we all want instant production from him, but it's just not gonna happen. he needs time to learn. i don't know why you're not sold on him yet; he has both the physical and mental traits needed. now he has to learn to put them all together.

    cheers

y couldnt they get someone with a name like shaun ellis or john abraham to replace them... it would be much easier on someone trying to read their roster

He was pulled in the 1st qtr & this is from todays Daily News

Penalties were such a problem for the Jumpin' Jets that first-round draft pick D'Brickashaw Ferguson, who committed a pair of false starts at left tackle, including one on a fourth-and-1 that forced the team to punt, was pulled after the first quarter while the rest of the offensive starters plowed deep into the third quarter. Ferguson reappeared in the fourth quarter with the second unit. Giants linebacker Brandon Short came around his side twice to bury quarterback Kellen Clemens.

Give D'brick a little time. And Im usually not one to be saying stuff like that, but I like the kid. He's got that attitude and definatly the skill. He had a so-so game last night but this is a situation where it is preseaon. Offensive line is not something you can really plug and play like a WR, a RB a little or to a lesser extent a QB. A good offensive line knows what each other guy does, how he likes to block and knows how to communicate easier. Give this o-line some time. So far though I really miss Curtis Martin in the back picking up the blitzes. You don't really know how much you had until its gone.

He'll have his good days where he'll lockdown the opposing player and he'll have his bad games. It's to be expected from a rookie.

As far as Brandon Short's blitzes, the RB stepped the wrong way to pick up the blitz and resulted in Clemens getting blindsided.

D Brickadude is going to be butter. He's got it written all over him... let's not get too excited over a single bad preseason game -- besides, I think he only gave up one sack. No big deal.

Perhaps Mangold's play should be even more heralded, since he's not making any mistakes, and he's looking pretty damn solid. He makes me say to myself, "Mawae who?". Of course, that's Mawae of last year, not 2004.

It's funny you mention Kiwanuka in the same breath as D'Brick. Kiwanuka was the top defensive end on a lot of draft boards going into the '05 season. A combination of a mediocre year and D'Brick owning his ass at the Senior Bowl contributed to his rather lengthy drop in the draft. So, I'm sure that Kiwanuka would like to get another crack at our prized left tackle :)

Yeah Canada! Played against him in high school....

Yeah they were talking about that on NFL radio yesterday, how Brick is basically trhe sole reason for this guy's stock to drop. Brick will be fine, you have to remember he is playing the hardest O-line position in terms of physicality becayse at times he will be all alone out there with a fast DE....there will be some mistakes and moves he hasn't seen before but he will learn from them and move on. He won't be a bust I can tell you that.

No but he could just be another ho hum player in the league also. Try reading some of the NY papers about his last nite performance. You know he was actually yanked by EM?

  19. He got yanked for 2 false start penalties..not for his blocking ability. He was facing usi, kiwi, Tuck, and possibly Strahan..and as far as I know he didnt give up any sacks. The Brandon Short sack was not his fault as Leon Washington missed the chip block.

Don' hate just because he is actually a talented player, and everyone else passed on him. And no Kiwi will be taking Strahan's job, not Osi's job.
