And everyone needs to calm the fuck down......

I'll admit watching the last two weeks live, and with Revis going down, I was angry and disheartened. I completely expected us to lose last week but we didn't....

    Few things to note:

*Greene isn't getting it done. This is a no brainer, watching every hand off whether the line creates some holes or not, Powell appears to be doing a better job. I still have not completely given up on Greene, but he doesn't appear to be a great every down back. We have not had even and adequate running game this year.

*Sanchez actually didn't play terrible last week. Sure he started off with a few bad throws. Every QB has a few bad ones. He also suffered from a few bad drops. And has suffered greatly from not having his favorite target Keller around. Once he gets more in rhythm with the receivers this year and gets Keller back he will be ok. If we can get some sort of running game going, I think we can actually have an average NFL offense.

*Our D hasn't gelled yet. They looked pretty good in the first half of the Buffalo game, but besides that they've been average at best. Granted they were missing Revis for most of that time, and had game plans based around having Revis. I believe we still have a slightly above average Defense even without Revis. I've seen some people suggest switching to 4-3, which might be something we need to do, we now are going to have to get at the QB faster. I trust Rex to come up with good schemes each week to confuse the other teams QB and keep us strong on that side of the ball. Our D Line is probably now the strongest part of that unit, though Cromartie and Wilson aren't a terrible starting CB tandem.

If we stop yelling and stop and think logically for a minute, you are looking at a roughly average football team. Perhaps a little below average on offense and above average on Defense. It's not the worst Jets team any of us have seen, and while we might not be Superbowl bound, we are in first place after 3 games and could possibly still make a run at the playoffs this year. Lets all chill and enjoy some football games without pointing fingers and trying to figure out who is at fault or who should be playing QB....

Raised some good points. This is an average team here. It could be worse. Yes, as Jets fans - you know it could be worse.

I think it's being average, in the fourth year of the Ryan regime, that is bothering most people.

Being average after losing your best player, is about the best most teams can hope for.... Especially a team that has traded up so frequently in the draft and really lacks depth.

That's quite the reason to be pissed... you don't see any issue here? The problem is we looked average in the Phins game before Revis got hurt. When you have no depth you can't trade up to grab luxury. It's a lot like leasing a BMW when you commute 100 miles to work 5 days a week. You're gonna get burned in the longrun but you have a nice car for 2 years. Throw in the guys we've traded up for haven't exactly made up for the loss of draft picks.

    Bingo.

Average team with Revis, below average team without.

Bothersome. By now this team should be more.

Did we all think we were't average? All I care about is making the playoffs and winning on Thanksgiving for the regular season. We have 2 wins out of the necessary 9/10 needed and 13 games to get 7/8 more. We have 2 division wins where we would want to get 4/5 out of 6. We have two wins with 4 more to play.

Our record is fine, the way we got there doesn't provide much hope that we are going to be above average, but as we all know average can make the playoffs.

More ridiculous drivel..Greene isn't getting it done, no shit..our defense hasn't gelled, no shit. Sanchez didn't play terrible, just not good..no shit...but we should all be the sunshine boys, right? This team went from two straight AFCCGs to this because our fuckin GM is terrible..that's what you should have written.

This team that is such a storied amazing franchise somehow didn't make the playoffs last year despite making the AFC championship game two years in a row in 09' and 10' The sky is falling! We are a terrible football team at 2-1 only having lost to the Steelers on the road (Who never lose at home).

It goes both way dude. Lets see how the season pans out, and how Rex adjusts to the loss of Revis before we claim this year a total failure.

This is a below average team that failed to address glaring needs in the off season. This is all on owner management and coaches.

I'm really hoping this Grimes kid steps up. It seems as though we never have the kind of guys who work their ass off into great player (other than Brandon Moore). Most of our starters are high round picks, which is good, but I need my own Victor Cruz story God damn it.

  13. In the modern salary cap era, it is nearly impossible to stay elite on a year in & year out basis. In 2009/2010, the Jets had arguably a top 3 roster. They came up alittle short.

Since then age, the lock-out, cap restraints, final 8 rules & lack of draft picks have taken their toll. That's not to say the front office should be blame free. But I just think it's unreasonable to say "We're not elite anymore..we're average this year..everyone must go". Take a look around the league over the last 5-10 years. nearly every franchise has had up & down seasons including Pittsburgh,Giants & even Green Bay. The days of building a powerhouse franchise 3 deep at every position, ready to dominate in the present as well as the future are OVER. Accept it for what it is.

Are the Jets an elite team this year? No they aren't. They aren't a subpar team either. When you look around the roster, there is alot of youth. Guys w/ potential upside. Outside of Linebacker, is there a position where you'd say the Jets are long in the tooth? Not really.

A decent core is in place. We know what we lack & that is playmakers. Let the season run its course & let's see where we end up. Guarantee you all that acouple names will step up & become household names for this team. Then we rebuild the LB corps, add a playmaker or 2 on offense, get 24 back..and next season the jets COULD return to being an elite roster.

It's a long season and we're coming into a tough stretch. This will be a good test to see what type of team we have. I think Rex will put together a scheme to minimize the loss of Revis. I also expect to see a lot of 4-3 looks this week

I can't help but think this team is masking an attempt at a "rebuild" offensively.

Not a rebuild of the traditional sense, but if the Jets believed they could win now, they would have done more to load up on offense.

Starting a raw rookie at WR 2, with Powell getting more touches, and Vlad being inserted on offense along with Austin Howard starting at RT. Seems like this is more of a developmental year for offensive side of the ball then a win now mentality.

They are able to mask this with the defense.

Hopefully it pans out and the Jets are in a better position offensively next year. This team can very much still make the playoffs which let's hope they do.

Next offseason, we can expect a bunch of contract purges and a pretty significant reload IMO.

I ain't here for average. THe moment I realize ( last weeks game) that we are not a serious playoff contender, I could care less about this team. Took my 3 games to see the light

What makes the Miami game make you realize we are not elite or even a playoff team?

We lost to Miami in 2009 & 2010 when we went to the AFCCG so whats different about Miami playing us tough now vs then? Henne was the second coming of Dan Marino. And now that we all see how bad a QB he was, they still managed to play tough this year with a rookie under center.

And thier Run defense was 3rd last year. Its not like they blew up the front 7 and rebuilt it. All those guys are back. And their OLine is decent also.

It's definitely an identity reshuffle this year. I think we can still make an impact this year, but man another decent draft, get some players off the books, get younger. This offense could look much much better next year. Get ourselves a TE like the guy from UCLA and we'll be in even better shape. Next year could be a good year as well. I still think this year we can potentially make some noise if certain players step up in the loss of Revis. I want us to contend for a long time and keep winning games. Time to BUILD a football program here, for once it would be nice to have some continuity would nice really great.
