Gotta create this thread to get knowledge from those who are in the know.
A lot of us want Tanny & Co. gone, but who are the options?

    - Who do you want as the GM? Currently: Mike Tannenbaum
It looks like Scott Cohen is next in line. Know nothing about this guy...

    - Who do you want for Senior Personnel Executive? Currently: Terry Bradway

    - Who do you want for Assitant Director of Player Personnel? Currently: JoJo Wooden

    - Who do you want for Director of College Scouting? Currently: Jeff Bauer

For the recommendations please cite brief credentials if you know them.

Polian would be great. I want the Jets to go outside of the organization, that's for sure. Whoever it is, just make sure it's an established GM (no first timers) who can infuse his own people into the positions you listed after GM.

    Think Casserly would take it?

^ He could find a QB, that's for sure.

But I think abyzmal brought up the point about his age. I don't know how he would fare with the rigors the position demands, esp. in NYC with the Super Bowl in town for '13.

It seems the GM position is usually given to someone entrenched within the deep family ties of the organization, looking at the charts across the league.

Which almost certainly means the Jets need to go outside the organization for their guy.

I just don't know the background or skillset required of these guys. Every team's organizational charts are different.

This is a really good thread. I'm really curious to see the responses and names tossed out.

A new gm almost always wants their own hc right? I'd love to see RR stay

the asst GM and/or directors of scouting of pitt, balt, NYG, would be a good place to start interviewing. those organziations always seem to draft reasonably well and know WTF they are doing

    I already looked that up.

Pitt is deeply entrenched with Rooneys from top to bottom. There's no way they leave the family business.

Also, it's the same with the Giants, the employees love the Maras, no way they bounce for the Jets.

Knowing Woody, he will go for another young hot shot, new on the scene.

Baltimore may be the best bet, but you're not taking a GM from another team, you are taking an underling who was already groomed for GM.

Also, don't expect miracles. Look @ Pioli in Kansas City. It takes years to fix a f*cked up team and Kansas City has been loaded with top of the round picks for the last 5 seasons.

Man we are fucked. We need someone that won't tolerate Woody's bullshit antics. Someone that can for the most part evaluate talent, and build a football team the legit way. The Jets reputation is so crappy right now, I can't see how anyone would want this job.

These guys are all the same.

Their ego and confidence in their ability to fix ANY situation is why coaches and GMs take jobs outsiders think no one wants.

The Jets won't have problems finding candidates, but they will struggle to find the right candidate.

You're already asking for too much. Asking a guy to not put up with his boss's bullshit antics? Good luck.

I have little interest in either of those guys. Polian let the Colts fall into total disrepair, and he's old enough that he'd almost certainly just be holding the job for a year or two before his son takes over (and make no mistake, Chris Polian is a fucking disaster.)

Casserly did a downright horrible job with the Texans, and since then he's been spending his days a mediocre analyst. No interest in turning the reins over to a guy who hasn't had success since the first Joe Gibbs era.

The best replacement for Tannenbaum is almost certainly someone that none of us have heard of.

Ozzie Newsome - give him a blank check.
However, this wouldnt be amenable to Rex since he was passed over for the HC position to John Harbaugh (which looks right it was the right move anyway).

Other options --- anyone from the Steelers or Texans office.
They have their shit together - especially at draft time.

That's the point, to find the right candidate. I don't think that guy is out there really. I really wish I didn't get to this point. I don't think it's over for good for this regime, but we aren't getting any better and we can't even stay competitive. Damn shame we can't turn back the clock to after losing the Steelers AFCCG and do things differently.

Woody needs to shut the fuck up and let the GM do his job. No more input from him, sign the checks and let the football guys concentrate on football. No more PSL crap, it's gotta be about winning. I don't see him changing his mentality so we'll prob be stuck here unless The Jets of FO Pasts come and make him change his mind :shit:

I mean don't worry Woody, the GM will let you decorate the stadium anyway you see fit.

Go pay Ozzie Newsome whatever her wants! The guy has been turning out great teams for years and when was the last time he had a top 5 pick? Just look at some of their players on offense. Ray Rice was a 2nd rd pick Flacco a mid to late 1st rd pick and Torrey Smith a 2nd I believe. The other plus is you can probably keep Rex hiring him.

It ALL comes down to finding that True Stud potential HOF QB.

If KC had that, then everything else falls into place. This draft has a few candidates for QB as we saw this past Saturday QB's putting up bigger numbers than Sanchez's season.

That said - If you fire Tanny which MUST happen...

And you recognize one of these QB's as a top tier - then you must get him - If you have a young Stud QB, do you want him groomed by Sparano/Rex/Cavanaugh?

I hate to say it but, if that's the road you take then Rex gets taken out as well and he is partially to blame for the talent here today anyway.

Tanny seemed to draft OK when Mangini helped out - With Rex helping out they all seems to get giddy over talent that turns out to bust - Way too excited for 2nd tier / 1 dimensional RB's they think they stole.

IMO, it's time to clean house - and to take it a step further, if it's me, I get what I can for Revis and spread that money around a bit and get more picks... No way do I, as a new GM get held hostage by Seinfester and Schmutz in my 1st year.
