I know this has been on the cards for a while now , but its really hitting home now. Damn I going to miss Curtis' sweet moves. Fine man. http://www.nydailynews.com/08-29-2006/sports/story/447521p-376785c.html
I would really like to get a doctor's opinion on this just to clear up some gray areas. If it's bone on bone, then what can he really do to make himself ready to play. If this is the end then thank you Curtis for all that you have done and how you have represented yourself and the new york jet family. Thanks again 28 for the great memories.
some people who have bone on bone condtions can't even run the right way.. but i have a strong feeling that were gonna see Curtis this season... and if he does imagine the ovation he will receive at the stadium, dude that would give me goosebumps larger then ..nvm
Damn, this sucks, since even my own optimistic self doesn't really believe he's coming back. Thanks Curtis.
I am very hopeful he will return, however, the fact that he hasn't made it to the practice field to even jog is pretty telling on how serious this injury apparently is. Unless they are in the training facility turning him into the 6 billion dollar man, I fear the worst for a Martin comeback.
i think most people here know if he was to comeback it wouldnt be at the beginning of this season i tihnk thats clear
I love Curtis and think he has been a great player, a warrior on the field, and as fine a person as there is in the NFL. Having said that, why does anyone want him to come back? He will at best be a shell of himself. He was pretty much done last year, and would be worse this year. More importantly, he would risk his health for the rest of his life. Retire with grace, go to the hall and have a great life, Curtis.
You know, I just thought of something. What if Curtis probably could play opening day? Now hear me out. We know he has to be in at least some pain, that's a given. However, let's say he could go. We know he can play through pain. What if he and Mangini had a conversation basically saying something like "Look Curtis, we want to make a push to win this year, but we all have to be honest, and we have no idea whether we can do it right now. Why don't we place you on the PUP for the first 6 weeks, and then, if we show we can make the playoffs, we will activate you, otherwise, just take this year off, get a full year of rehab, and we will be ready next year for sure." I have no facts to base that on, but who knows? Giving CMart the extra 6 weeks off to give he and Mangini 6 extra weeks to determine if it is worth Curtis playing in pain this year or next wouldn't be a bad idea. Just a thought.
Curtis was one of the original players the drew me to this team. I'm sad to see him going out like this, but maybe its all for the best. Running backs who don't know how to call it quits are the same games who can't walk w/o pain at 40....
