Disagree. While I know we must blitz every now and then to make some plays, the game plan vs. Collins should be don't give him any of these easy throws--the deep ones. Collins has only been effective when his receivers are allowed to get behind the defense and he can air it out.
Fisher may be lying, I wouldn't put it past him, but they were thinking a series a half to change things up.
I would not blitz at all, let alone every down. I'd drop 8 into coverage. Collins does not make good decisions. If he has time, he'll still throw picks. If we blitz, the risk of the big play is there. If we drop 8 back, Collins will complete more balls to us than he does to the Titans.
You all act like Kerry Collins is a bad QB. He's better than quite a few of the starting QB's in the league and with 2 good targets he MAY put up a fight for the win...but we've almost certainly got it won.
it's foolish to say BLITZ A LOT, or DON'T BLITZ AT ALL.... every possession, and down has a different look to it. you gotta mix up your game plan. 3rd and long sometimes you blitz to force the qb to get rid of it quickly, sometimes you drop 7 or 8 and play coverage... game plans change.
1. STOP THE RUN at all costs. The Titans will try to run the ball to take the pressure off of Kerry Collins. 2. Force rusty, only two weeks in their offensive system, very little chemistry with his new wide receivers Kerry Collins to beat us. 3. BLITZ, BLITZ, BLITZ!!!!!!!!!!!
I second that. This going to be the blitzkrieg game, because they'll be blitzing us as well. Whoever forces more turnovers, wins.
I wonder what happened with Volek to suddenly drop him into the toilet. He was the Matt Schuab of a few years ago. As for Collins, and as much as it pains me to say it, I think NYJATW is right. hmy: He's certainly nothing special and not exactly that good, but don't act like he's harmless. He did a respectable job last season of not turning the ball over (12 INT, 4 FUM) and if his recievers get open he can take advantage. I'm not familiar with the Titans, so I have no idea what kind of pass protection they can put up, but Jetsin2004 hit the nail on the head. If the Jets keep bringing the house on every play, Collins can still get rid of the ball quick enough to hit whoever is bound to be open. The real trouble he has is when he has to throw into coverage.
When Collins has time to throw, he's ok to good. He can be dangerous. Put some pressure on him, and he folds like a house of cards in a hurricane.
