LOL. I mean if some team employed Ronald McDonald and then fired him I'd give it .02 seconds before someone at this place put up a McDonald for GM thread. I mean what the hell did Holmgren do? Mangini actually looked like he was beginning to turn that program around until Holmgren got there.

As a coach, no one can take away Holmgren's ability. As a GM he's been a total failure and that includes his time as the GM of the Seahawks.

He left the seahawks a complete mess. This retread has nothing to offer in a NFL front office. no thanks.

To be fair, the Browns' drafts under Holmgren have been better than the Jets'.

He's got a lot of water under the bridge at this point and there's no evidence that he's as good a front office guy as he was as a coach.

Could he come in and sort the mess out for us? It would depend very heavily on how much energy and commitment he put into doing that. This is one of the reasons I want a younger guy as GM. The job is going to be a 24/7 job for at least two years as the Jets get straightened out.

It's going to require a guy who will tell Woody what needs to be done and then fight to get those things done. The problems in the Jets organization right now are mainly in the personnel management side of the business. That doesn't mean that Woody hasn't contributed heavily to the problems by his management methods involving the people on that side of the house.

I think this is a young man's job at this point. The guy I'd like to see get the GM job is Jon Gruden and he's pushing the edge of the age and effectiveness bubble also. He did succeed under Al Davis in Oakland and then under the Glazers in Tampa. That suggests he has developed a really thick skin and the ability to work with strong personalities effectively.

He was fired, he didn't step down and he was a better coach than GM.

Mike Holmgren sucks as a GM. You see the Cleveland Browns lately, they are a complete mess. For all the crap Tannebaum has taken he has constructed rosters that has been some of the most successful teams in Jets history. Canning him for Holmgren is complete lunacy!

I am unaware of the rules, but I would like to pursue Baltimore Ravens AGM Eric Decosta.

Looked him up on wikipedia. Looks like a few teams are way ahead of ya. He turned down multiple opportunities with teams last year. Ravens just made him the assistant GM and also made him one of the highest paid executives in the NFL and they have tabbed him to become Ozzie's succesor.

But then again we are the New York Jets and no way he doesn't have a big ego, so maybe we can make it happen.

Holy shit, don't the Jets have enough failures of their own? Why are some fans so hellbent on acquiring other franchise's scapegoats as well?

What's Mike Lynn doing now? He was good with draft picks.

I really think we need someone seasoned to stand up to Woody when necessary. Not sure if many young guys (with young families to support) will do that. I like Gruden as well, but there are probably 50 names I've never heard of who could do the job.

Oh give me a break, dude. The Jets are not a 'mess' like you claim. We're still 3-3 and tied for first in the AFCE with the almighty Brady and Belichick.

Given the level of parity in the NFL these days, the problems that the Jets have are almost forgiveable and at the very least warrant some sort of extension for Tannenbaum to figure things out.
