There is this #12 QB for the Giants, a Jared Lorenzen, he is a huge guy. 6-4, 285 (stop drooling Jeaux :) and he just went scrambling around the corner and laid a shoulder into a LB and flattened him at the sideline. I can't remember the last time I saw a QB lay a hit on a LB like that. lol

Then there was a flag on the play and for half a second I thought they threw it on the QB.

I saw about 15 minutes of that game, and I'll tell you what I saw - I saw their fifth round kicker hit a 54 yard field goal with plenty to spare, and then knock his kickoff down to the goal line; whilst our SECOND round kicker missed his weak 49 yard attempt and routinely leaves his kickoffs safely on the friggin' 10 yard line.

    Oh, man...

When asked about why Troy Brown was under center tonight, Bill responds with "to develop his legend". They do some crazy stuff out there in Patsie land.

Lorenzen is an intriguing player, man. Slow, unweildy, just plain fat, yet he seems really intelligent and a quick thinker (although I did see him make a game-management error in our game with the NYGs). And his arm is a freaking cannon. I watched him effortlessly hurl a 40-yard pass on a perfect spiral on a dime on a sideline route. I'm not sure he'll be able to overcome the obstacles his weight provides, though.

Yeah, he's a big boy - no doubt. I was blown away though that he managed to scramble up the sidelines on that play. In the end I would not guess that the weight would really help much. He shouldn't be seeing too much time anyway with Manning there.

Just saw the replays of Brown under center. Wow. If they lose their 2 QB's Brown could end up being out there passing and handing off. Not that I want to see anyone get hurt, but it would be something to see him out there doing it.

What I did notice was their short yardage guy, (Brandon Jacobs #27) run not rumble for 57 yards!!! The man is 6'4 and 264lbs!!!!! You should have seen how many tackles he broke , BEAST.

J-Load/The Pillsbury Throwboy has all the mental tools to succeed, not to mention a gun for an arm. Hard to believe but -- It looks like he has lost some weight since his days at Kentucky. He seemed to move well for someone his size in college -- but I don't think that he could cut it in the NFL without dropping 50lbs. No doubt a solid number two.

How could you be a professional sportsman in an NFL program and not lose a few stone if required? All he needs to do is work on it - it's not like he has a job that gets in the way!

I missed that one Gus... Of course he ran for 57 yards though... once you get in front of the LB's, what DB in his right mind is going to hit him head on in a tackle when he's moving at top speed and weights 264. Be like getting hit by a mack truck.

At this point, Lorenzen is pretty much the clear cut favorite to beat Hasselback and Rob Johnson for the back-up QB job.
He's got a strong arm that seems pretty accurate and has looked very comfortable playing with and against first-teamers during the preseason.
He's has frighteningly quick feet in the pocket (for a man his size) and isn't a bad scrambler.
As for his weight, it hasn't seemed to slow him down yet. He was pushing 300 during his first training camp and he wound up not reporting out of embarassment. He's dropped about 20 lbs off that now and is still working on it.

(BTW, his hit was on Monty Beisel. Took him right off his feet, it was great).

I'm pretty sure that Johnson was already cut. So he atleast has a spot as a #3. But you're right -- he will probably beat out Hasselback.

I think hes just physically built that big, almost like Wayne Rooney who you think could lose weight but thats just his physique, Im rooting for the big fella to start.

Lorenzen was the QB in the first game of college football I ever saw on TV here, so I've taken an interest in him since. I like that he's stuck somewhere.

Yeah a good pick by us. He would have done better in college if it wasnt sure Ronnie Brown, and Caddy being ahead of him. As for goaline situations or short yardage. All we have to do is put j-load and Jacobs in, and no team can stop whoever has the ball. lol. But on a side note J-load is 289, and has amazing speed for a guy that big! lol. Just as Monty Biezel as he got leveled like non other!

Jacobs has really impressed me this preseason. He's showing the ability to know when to make a move and when to plow through people, as opposed to last season when he had tendency to dance around too much.

He's showing that he can be a good running back, not just a specialty back.

Yeah I think he just needs reps during the course of the game, and I hope he can give Tiki a good break during each game, while providing impact plays like the big run last nite.
