Jimmy Wilson, CB, Miami. The seventh-round pick from Montana in 2011 had one of the best all-around days any player had Sunday, recording a sack of Mark Sanchez, two tackles, a pass deflection and a blocked punt when he and a fellow punt rusher ran a twist on the Jets' line, fooled long-snapper Tanner Purdue and rushed in and smothered the punt, which Olivier Vernon recovered in the end zone to give the Dolphins a 10-0 lead they'd never relinquish. "I just think he gives us the best chance to win. That's my opinion, and it's the only one that matters." -- Jets coach Rex Ryan, announcing after the dispiriting 30-9 home loss to Miami that he was sticking with Mark Sanchez as his starting quarterback. g. Chandler Jones is one impressive rookie rusher. He had a 17-yard sack of Sam Bradford. Rex Ryan's confidence. Gone. Vanquished. Sanchized. Mark Sanchez. Rex, it's time.
C. Jones is a beast. Once again BB comes out on top. Coples can't tackle and is a liability against the run. Once they get their secondary figured out that D will be very very good. That team is set up for the next 6-7 years. Jets should pay attention. They might learn something.
If there's anything that the FO can learn from the Pats it's that multiple picks reduce the odds of the Draft crap shoot. They could afford to take a chance on Jones with another first rounder in the bag. If anything the Jets should be playing it safe with fewer draft picks and not going for the high-ceiling, stud-or-bust picks. We should be staying clear of workout warriors, players with alleged poor motivation or QB's that haven't played enough college games.
Coples is the farthest thing from a liability vs the run. Just from that statement alone you show that you do not watch the games, are a troll who is really a pats fan and to put it bluntly, unintelligent.
Yea ok. Have you seen him try and set the edge? Have you seen him try an tackle? Not to mention the fact that he looks like he doesn't give a shit. Another failed pick. Your just a homer. Please tell me how good Taco is and how Wilson is a solid cb lol. Cannot make this stuff up. Bawaawaa.
And why would a Pats fan want to troll a jets forum? Serious question? They have owned us over the last 10-12 years. I'm sure they arnt concerned with us except to get a good laugh.
Oh yes because a grand total of eight regular seasons suddenly can decide the fate of a draft pick and we can fairly decide if a pick is great or not.
Troll aside, there are some serious flaws in our scouting dept if they couldnt see Jones was a better player than Coples.
I did not say he does not know anything. I do not think he is always objective and his anti-Jets fan rant because people didn't go to Favre's first preseason game with the Jets was b.s. Imo, he is a bag of crap.
Relax bud. I remember you guys touting McCourty as the next Revis. Remember last year when he had the worst statistical season by a CB in the history of the NFL? Would give it a little more time before we put Jones in Canton.
I don't think this is popular, but I wouldn't mind Tanny staying as a numbers guy if he would be willing. Also, Peter King was born in Mass. and is a Red Sox fan so wouldn't be surprised if he's a Pats fan. Still like him as a writer, but you can see some bias creep and where his feelings lie
Your lost bud if you think Coples is a bad against the run. He isn't a bad tackler either. He should be in on all downs no matter what. I don't know why Rex won't trust him.
Jones is a 1 trick pony. He's a good outside rusher. That's it.Once there is more film on him you'll see his production come down. There is absolutely nothing wrong w/ Coples. The very fact that a Patriot fan is so adamant about touting Jones over him suggests some doubt long term.
A Pats fan coming in and taking about defensive draft picks under Bellichik? The great one was handed Parcells and Carrolls talent and lucked into Brady. Since the P/C talent retired or moved on, the Pats defense has been sorry. Bellichik has got to be the most over rated NFL personality I have seen in more then 40 years of watching football.
"Ras-IR" -- @GlobeChadFinn, Chad Finn of the Boston Globe, after the Patriots put cornerback Ras-I Dowling on injured-reserve for the second time in his two-year NFL career.
