I'm 100% behind that "we need to be consistent" comment. That has always been my issue with some people. They praise one HC or GM for one thing then bash another for doing the same. Look at the FAs we brought in this year, all mid-level with the exception of may Dyson. Role players for the most part but no big stars. I didn't see the same complaints about that as we saw in years past yet it was pretty much the same off-season. I think this new regime is doing a good job of trying to build a flexible team with players who can play multiple positions but at the same time I see things like the whole "QB competition" (just how long it lasted) that if they continue doing these things they may begin to wear quite thin on both the players and the fans. My take (and hope) is they are just finding their way right now and will be smart enough to change when they see what works and what doesn't.
This Tangini thing has me excited. These guys are leaving no stone unturned & creating & re-creating this team moment. Its fantastic. It looks allot like what Omar Minaya & the Mets are doing in Queens. Again....I love it. Mangini reminds me of a young Bill Parcells or Vince Lombardi. You can see on his face that he hates mistakes & losing.
I see a lot of posters responding to your post with "hey..relax...this team isnt ready to win yet" or "thats what a front office is supposed to do". I dont see that in your post...you make some great points. This is a very proactive Front office/coaching staff. I completely agree with your post. Yes, its true, thats what they are supposed to do...but thats not what they do for the most part. You are right on...there is a difference..and nobody is saying that this will all come together this year..but there is energy. Energy on the sidelines...attention to detail on and off the field. Will it work? No idea..but its damn refreshing.
