Where on Earth did u get the $12 mil figure??? According to rotoworld, his base is $7.5 mil (plus prorated signing bonus of 1.3 mil = 8.8 mil cap charge). If they release him, they save $2.3 mil of cap space.

I think we need to shore up the ground game and bring in a couple OL and RB via free agency or the draft. Offense has to be priority.

Agreed. Offensive line in particular needs to be bolstered.

I think RB / WR / TE / LB need playmakers in particular. If the Jets can get high motor high velocity players at any of those positions, particularly early on then it's worth investing in. Otherwise, OL all the way.

Oakland fan site, I just used it as a guestimate, sorry.

They've paid him about $12 MM last 2-3 years including bonus.

I'm gonna state the obvious: Michael Vick would be the perfect attention-generating FA signing that Woody would be looking for. I think we're gonna be one of the top teams in the running for Vick.

    I'd rather have Sanchez.

Vick would be a stupid move. He can't stay healthy and he turns the ball over as much as Sanchez.

I think we're stuck with him anyway, but I hope not. And going for Tebow fits Woody perfectly; Ron Mexico and the pit bulls, not so much.

If the jets show any interest in Vick, I'm done.

I would rather build through the draft. we aren't going to have any major signings this offseason, it just won't happen.

I think we should avoid big free agency signings, other than a WR or perhaps RB. If we signed Bowe or Jennings, it would change everything. Imagine having Holmes & Jennings on the outside, Kerley in the slot and Stephen Hill being the #4 guy who will be groomed to replace Holmes in another year or 2. That's a unit I can dig, with the type of depth we need at the position. The rest we should build through the draft (OLBs, OT, OG, FS). I think Keller will be resigned, but because of his injury his value will be down, so we will make out in the deal. Greene will probably be back as well as Landry. Bell maybe gets a quick 1 year.

And a big NO to Michael Vick. I'd like a QB near the beginning of his career, not end.

Vick+Tebow QB controversy = guaranteed headlines & Jets dominate the back pages & ESPN updates. If Woody successfully pushed it through then I'd have to take a break from American Football. My frustration would reach the point where I've given up hope.

  18. Antrelle Hawkins from Cincy would be a great WR acquisition. Not the biggest name out there but he's a threat everytime he touches the ball, runs good routes & can contribute on special teams.

If we ever got Stephen Jackson, I would probably be the happiest dude on the planet for like five seconds.

Come to think of it, we've done really well with retread RBs. TJones had a good time while he was here and LT had a decent year or two with us. Not a bad place for a RB to land. Then again, our O-Line was a lot different.

Regarding WRs, it's really tough to tell at this point because they're going to blow it all up.

Andrew Hawkins? If so, yeah. I really liked him. I believe I saw him against the Giants.the other day. Really likes how he plays and he's not a big name but reliable. Will he be a FA?
