He's 6'8 with soft hands, and had some pretty good games last year for NO. (Not to mention, he was one of my sleeper picks for TE in fantasy football), I've never really been so high on Baker, or any Jet tight end for that matter. Does anyone here think he can eventually make a push for the starting spot?

I'm a huge Baker fan, so no. But I thought I'd share what espn thinks of him:

Baker has the starting job won, but don't be surprised if Hilton is starting by mid-season. (even though he probably won't be)

Hilton may be more of a red-zone / third down TE... Huge target that can catch

Maybe with good coaching that will use his height advantage he could certainly since Baker is just another medicore player that for some unknown reason the NYJ seem to like.

Isn't that what elderly punks in Florida are eligible for if they haven't made enough money picking penny stocks?

Thats the key question, I was wondering the same thing. My guess is yes or else the FO would of just kept Jolley. We should work well in 2 TE sets.

My understanding is that he's a terrible blocker. If he could block, he'd be starting in N'awlins.

This is exactly why he was released. He is an awful blocker. Really a one way TE. He better learn to block or he is gonna go no where.

    Youth?
