Bernard Pollard already cost Tom Brady a season. Now, the Ravens safety may get his wish of lightening the Patriots quarterback's checkbook.

According to ESPN, NFL officials are reviewing possible discipline for Brady for a play near the end of the first half of the AFC Championship, in which the quarterback slid and made contact with Ravens safety Ed Reed with a kicking motion.

"If you want to keep this going in the right direction, everyone should be penalized for their actions," Pollard said on Monday. "He knew what he was doing. It has to go both ways. Hopefully the NFL will do something about it. If they don't, that's fine. If they do, then that's fine."

Pollard, who injured Brady's knee in the first game of 2008 while a member of the Chiefs, has said that the quarterback deserves to be fined, noting a similar play in which Lions defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh was fined $30,000 for kicking Texans quarterback Matt Schaub on Thanksgiving.

“You’ve got to keep them legs down. You’ve got to keep the legs down. We all know and understand what’s going on there,” Pollard told Comcast Sports New England after the game on Sunday. “And as a quarterback, when you go to slide, we’re taught ... we can’t do anything. When you come sliding, and your leg is up in the air trying to kick somebody, that’s bullcrap.”

Good. It was obvious what Brady was trying to do. He was probably frustrated that Reed was taking away his deep routes.

*Cue gopats88 (or whatever his nick is) coming on here to tell us that the wind was so strong that it blew his leg upwards.

I think Brady is just so frightened by the prospect of imminent contact he just reflexively threw his leg out there defensively. He should get fined, though, that could have hurt somebody. And imagine if Reed somehow made contact with his leg and injured HIM? Holy shit, people would go nuts.

Honestly when I saw the play happening I said it would have been great if Reed just decided to step on Brady's knee while Tommy Boy was trying to kick him. ooops

The best part of it is that by running and sliding instead of throwing it away Brady cost the Pats a shot at a TD and they were forced to kick a FG. There was a play later in the game when it appeared he could have run for a 1st but decided to throw it on 3rd down which resulted in a punt. All he had to do was beat #92 to the edge and he would have had about 6 or 7 yards along the sideline and he tossed it instead. The guy truly is a bitch.

It's just amazing how much better he plays when he has enough time in the pocket to make a sandwich.

Good observations, and also the clock management thing at the end of the first half was an issue. Brady made some self inflicted mistakes.

Fagboy just pulled out of the Pro Bowl.

He must have injured his cheap shot leg trying to spear Ed Reed in the groin.

If they don't fine him something, they lose all credibility in my eyes.

The play was as unsportsmanlike, and cowardly, as it gets.

He was essentially taking advantage of Reed adhering to the rule of not hitting a sliding QB, and then turning that sportsmanship into a potentially dangerous cheap shot of his own. Just as intentional as Suh's play, but more cowardly as he feigned giving himself up first to ensure he would not get hit in the process.

    C'mon man.

NFL quarterbacks know how to slide. That play was as dirty as Suh. pollard is right.

A fine should be sent. It's a dirty play. The slide is there to protect the QB, using it to try and cleat someone is terrible. NFL really wants to step on safety, this is a concern .

I think a 1-game suspension would be fair.

The deliberate attempt to injure the defenseless Reed and the pullout from the probowl are actually related

League sauces are reporting that Tammi bruised her vagina on that very play causing her pullout from the Hawaii game.

    Get well soon Tammi

Suh is a very bad man with a history of taking cheap shots with malafide intent.

Brady is a middle aged woman going through early stage menopause trapped in a QB's body. It was a reflexive thing in the face of imminent contact, that might have resulted in a bad owie.

And Pollard is right. There's no place for that shit in the game.

They better fine him and prove they aren't completely biased. It's only fair considering all the rules that were bent and implemented just because of his pussy ass.
