The Chiefs have locked up one tackle (Albert) with the franchise tag and cut their other starting tackle Winston with the chance that they will draft another tackle with the first overall pick in this draft. I understand why the Chiefs needed to make a move here but they really missed out on an opportunity to make a trade for picks and / or players by cutting him outright. After giving up multiple picks for Alex Smith they could have at least gotten some of it back. Of course this is good news for Winston who would have only counted $3.5 mil against the cap for the Chiefs as he can go wherever he wants as a UFA. The Jets need to sign this beast.
He'd be a good addition to any zone blocking scheme but I think he'll want to go to a supposed contender.
He will turn 30 during the season, but he's a rare good free agent RT that wouldn't cost the world. So I guess I'll give (I think) my first ever SIGN THIS BEAST!
Isn't this his second cut by as many teams in as many years? When the Texans cut him, well they're a good team trying to get better, but when the 2-14 Chiefs cut him doesn't that tell us something?
Texans also got rid of Mario Williams. Winston isn't a stud FR anymore but he's better than Howard. I don't know if we should sign him though. Depends on how much he wants and how long.
26th highest rather tackle according to PFF. Not right tackle but tackle in general. He is still very, very good. The problem for us is the cap. There is no room for signing him.
