Dont need to. You claim to have. Then you said..l Just might, Warmack, is said by some to be the best player in the draft,,,and while your point about the CBA is spot on,,,i think at 9 there will be more impactful pkayers, whereas a guard can be attained with negligible dropoff later,
When was the last time a guard was taken in the top 10? I'm way too lazy to look it up myself. I'm a firm believer in building a team in the trenches, and having a great oline makes the whole offense look better, but just not at the point of overdrafting. If cooper truly is worthy of the #9 then great pull the trigger, if not look to trade down. If nobody is willing to trade up, there's always round 2. We have way too many holes to overdraft players. That's my 2 cents. I don't even pretend to be a draftnick but we got mangold in the late first round. Everyone knew he was the best center of the draft class, and was probably one of the best players overall to come out of the 06 draft, but centers/guards just don't seem to get drafted in the top 10.
Do you troll or is the man in your avi rubbing off on you ? Moss was MILES better then Holmes when he first came out And Hill ??..... seriously ?
You realize, this is Santana Moss, not Randy eight. So, now being a jerk takes ore edence over being,...observant? Holmes has almost as many TDs in less time, and a better YPC average. And Hill? On top of that? Yes,,,if both were 22, and leaving colleve Im sure every junior GM would take Moss, the 5'8 guy, over the 6'4 Hill. Oooh...heres an idea...lets compare theor rookie seasons....who wins that matchup? Yes..but Im wrong...my only question is how does a guy so into self gratification find time to pat himself on the back? Hill scored more touchdwns in his first game, than Moss did in his first season.l,oh..and with a shitty QB!
Considering Tavon Austin was the player that was being talked about for the majority of the post you were replying to (and in this thread), I figured that's who you would have been talking about... I guess not though
I'm assuming the jets will have more picks come draft day...with that said I'd like to see an offense heavy draft w a spattering of key defensive picks.
It all boils down to one point for me. On the outside, hes too short, even if he gets a step, the ball has to be perfect. No percentage play. And if you consider bringing him inside, you already have Kerley, and the high picj profits you more on D.
Austin can play from anywhere on the field. He can affect a game every single play. I have a hard time believing anyone of these defensive prospects (aside from Jordan) can affect the game that way. Maybe one of the passrushers can, but they have to be developed perfectly IMO. Geno Smith managed to help make Tavon Austin a top 15 draft pick, yet in your eyes Smith is not even a 1st round talent. You worried Mark wont be able to do the same?
give up a 4th for Ivory? no way. I do like it though. Cooper or Warmack would be my pick in the first. huge fan of Woods and if Ertz is there in the second he will most definitely be our pick.
I thought this article was interesting because it highlights how important it is for the Jets offense to get faster, playmaker wise and in terms of tempo. Peyton Manning is saying that the Broncos offense needs to get faster. One of the major issues with this offense is obviously a lack of playmakers. The second one which has been a huge flaw of Sanchez over the last 2 years is how long it took for the Jets to get plays in from the sideline and tempo. He seemed confused on every down and seemingly was struggling to get the play call on every down. This completely kills the element of surprise from our Offense and allows the defense ample time to setup and read any formation at the line...http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9181794/peyton-manning-wants-denver-broncos-play-faster-2013 Hopefully Morningwheg and the staff are making note of this as the tempo and speed to which they get to the line on every play can greatly improve. Not to mention the overall player speed. Brady does this better than anyone.
It really is an interesting draft for the Jets, and crucial as well. There are so many guys you can make a reasonable case for, as well reasonably poke holes at. The biggest impact positions of need are at QB and OLB. The value of course is not strong at QB, which would cause us to reach. I wouldn't mind it, but it would be a reach. Jordan will likely be gone, and Ziggy and Jones have questions in terms of NFL potential (although i wouldn't mind either due to impact and need). Star and Milliner would represent BPA imo if there, but certainly would not be w/o controversy. We def need a ton of help on Offense, but Austin and the Guards are certainly not picks i would normally go for at 9. However, a case could be made that they could be BPA. Ultimately we need to take a leap of faith that the Jets FO team can recognize and select the BPA regardless of position. That is a hard leap to take, considering some of their shortcomings in the past. Remember, the scouts have not changed much. Were they wrong in the past, or just not heard enough? Very interesting year.. I'm trying to keep an open mind. As long as the player can contribute at a high level, i don't mind what position we end up selecting. We need help everywhere.
