a lot of people made that accusation when it was first announced i cant remember the last time i heard parcells name associated with a current nfl team, of course, ive been paying attention to mostly schoolwork and the jets, havent had time for the rest of the nfl really but yeh sparano was a parcells guy, that couldnt bode well for his reputation.
I've had that feeling too. It's been documented that Tannenbaum pitched Sporano to Rex so it is a possibility. Even if Parcells wasn't directly behind it...Tannenbaum IS a Parcells guy & they tend to stick together. The guy would've been great as an OL coach to replace Callahan but he knew nothing about developing a young QB. What a disaster.
yeh but you missed another really important part of that quote... hes the only person reid trusted to call plays for his offense, which led to a 6 game win streak including the playoffs. he knows what hes doing
Jets will be top ten rushing team Jon Idzik might be a genius. For the past three years I've been saying Chris Ivory is a beast And now he'll be the jets #1 back. At the end of the year I see ivory getting 210 carries for 1035 yards 10 Tds . Mike Goodson with 110 carries for 475 yards 5 td + 20 catches 2 Tds. Joe McKnight and bilal Powell should both get a couple carries a game to keep every one fresh. Also the new fullback tommy will be used to block 98% of the time. Geno only runs if he's got to. I think ivory can really set the tone for the run game.
Thank you. I completely agree. I remember the first time I heard it in relation to football, it sounded so weird.
Wasn't really sure if this deserves its own thread so I added it to this one focusing on Old vs. New Offensive Schemes. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2013/05/08/facing-eight-in-the-box/ As you can tell from the link, Jets Offense faced A LOT of 8-men in the box. Gives me even more appreciation for Shonne Greene who faced stacked box more even more than Adrian Peterson. Also, shows us just how productive Jets OL was to still put out a decent rushing attack. facing 8 or more in box #1 = Frank Gore @ 42.25% #2 = Shonn Greene @39.13% #3 = AP @34.48% #4 = Bilal Powell @32.73% #40 = LeSean McCoy (from Eagles) @10.00% **** Want to point out that authors claimed they will update this table to include formations & net number of blockers on average but didn't give ETA. One of the interesting comments on their site is quoted below. ====== At first I was looking forward to the incoming WCO. Something more "modern" and radically different. Now I'm wondering if Jets might be better served altering that Andy Reid West Coast Offense into a more balanced run/pass ratio. For this season at least, I've changed my expectations and now expecting MM to modify offense into something more run-oriented than his Philly days. This year's OL should be better. Blocking at FB & TE shouldn't be much different than last year too. Everything I've listed makes me believe 2013 Jets are not gonna be as pass-heavy as we're expected. I'm thinking, if the offense doesn't pick up this season then one more draft + one more year of free agency, then 2014 Jets (scheme-wise) will roll out the offense closer to what MM had before joining the Jets.
Why would we not want to see Ivory running the ball alot? He is a steamroller, and he came here to run the ball. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does as a #1 back, personally.
Yeah we'll find out this year who's fault that really was in Philly. Fat Andy never really ran the ball much in Philly pre-Morningweg either but the last year or so they took it to another level of one-dimensionness.
