Would it be so bad if SoCal Sanchez heads back west? At least his hairband would play better with the locals. Things at the QB position being what they are in Oakland, why not send Sanchez there for a high DP. Sanchez may suck, but he's better than Aaron Pryor.
The Raiders appear to have an abundance of cap space available at this point. Maybe we can trade them Zach Rogers to take Mark Sanchez along with him and keep Rogers out of the Patriots evil clutches? Edit: Crap, scratch that idea the Raiders have a huge amount of dead money on the cap this year, nearly $50M. They probably can't afford to take on Sanchez.
Geno Smith over Mark Sanchez is Jets OC's preference Allies remain in short supply for Mark Sanchez. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Friday on NFL Network's "NFL Total Access" that Marty Mornhinweg will unequivocally side with rookie Geno Smith if the offensive coordinator has a vote in the New York Jets' starting quarterback competition. Mornhinweg is a big fan of Smith's potential and believes he's the better option, whether Sanchez is healthy or not. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...mith-over-mark-sanchez-is-jets-ocs-preference
There's nobody else on the roster with the upside of Geno Smith at this point. If Marty Mornhinweg really thinks he's the guy to go with then the Jets should probably do that. The # of bad QB's that Mornhinweg has produced as an OC is basically zero.
Simms is better and has more upside than the genome. I'd rather give Simms the opportunity to start the season and see where he can take us, I truly believe he will be special.
they weren't already? given that smith was drafted and his contract being what it is I've assumed he's done in green and white for a while now. I only leave an unbelievable turnaround that warrants keeping him as a caveat for sanchez, I sure as hell won't root against him or say it can't go right but its not likely he's kept aboard next year, and I'm pretty sure he knows it too.
I would love for them to cut Sanchez, but they can't do it because of the salary cap. Jets top 51 are $6.4 million under cap (http://overthecap.com/nfl-cap-space.php?Year=2013) - throw in last 2 players and practice squad and the jets are about $5 million under cap. Cutting sanchez results in a $4.3 million cap hit, leaving only about $700k in cap space and teams like to have around $5 million in cap space to deal with unexpected contingencies during the season. Here's a link to Sanchez's cap hit - http://www.overthecap.com/teamcap.php?Team=Jets&Year=2013 They could, however, put him on IR and keep Smith, McElroy & Simms. I don't think they will because if the young QBs stink it up, then they'll get their heads handed to them in the media. Of course, putting him on IR would also result in further shots for playing Sanchez in the 3rd quarter of the Giants game and getting him injured. Most likely scenario in my mind is they put McElroy on IR and go with Smith, Sanchez & Simms.
The simple fact is this, another season with Sanchez as QB will be a losing season..The Jets have 3 other QBS, pick one to start, my choice would be Simms, he has played the best out of the other 3 QBS,, If you don't want to start a rookie then start McElroy,,,JUST DONT START SANCHEZ !!!
Let me rephrase, if true then even Sanchez's most die hard supporters would have to admit Sanchez is done in New York....that is assuming of course the MM report is true.
