I know its only the Post but I cant remember being more disappointed going into a season. They printed an article today that pretty much spelled it out. Season Dead on Arrival.. Dont get me wrong been a Jet fan my whole life and there is nothing I like better than for people to think we are terrible and underestimate us. But from all I have seen and read I am feeling the same way. I will go into the season open minded in the hopes that maybe Rex can work some magic with our defense and keep the score low . So perhaps the offense with a questionable running attack and no passing attack, can scrounge up enough points to win..But this is a rough one this year.. Just throwin it out to hear everyone else's thoughts. Homers and Darksiders are all welcome

Jethead, my advice is don't get your news from the Post, NYDN, Fatcessa, or any local radio or print medium.
It is sensational tabloid rubbish, completely devoid of any actual analysis. They contrive drama for the sake of selling drama. They are consistently wrong, with zero accountability for their inaccuracies.

The team is young and inexperienced. They are rebuilding, and still have a major question at QB.
So i don't expect to be a world beating team. However, i do expect them to win more games than any of these clowns are predicting. The circus won't admit they were wrong when it happens either. Instead they will latch onto a new contrived drama, and justify that drama (which they created) to insist they were right all along despite the unexpected number of wins. F them..

I fully expect the Jets to make the playoffs this year. We are a better team than last year.

Cubs fans have been saying that exact phrase for 105 years and counting.

ESPN has us ranked dead last at 32 in the power rankings. Didn't they get the memo Mark is not playing?

Yes, but they couldn't rank the Jets lower than #32 in a 32 team league when Sanchez was the QB :metal:

With Richardson, Mo Wilk, and Coples to watch up front on defense I'm excited for the season. We should be able to cause Oline's problems without bringing 7 guys and when Rex does dial up the blitz... Oh boy this should be fun.

Yea the offense looks like a cluster fuck. We will get to see if Geno, Hill, Kerley, Ivory and Powell develop. If all of them click it could be a surprising season. Having the potential to develop beats watching the same group falter.

All in all, the NY media is perhaps the most over sensational group with the least amount of integrity in the world. It's a sad state they are all in right now.

The jets have a good shot at being competitive this year if the offense improves under morningwood. The offense improving is a likely scenario IMO.

Don't buy into the negative hype. You're just giving Vigo more power.

I'm normally a sunshiner.....but if the plan is to win low scoring games that means you can't turn the ball over. Rookie QB is going to have growing pains. He's gonna turn the ball over. Not looking good. I'll put on a brave face though...and drink heavily. J!E!T!S! JETS! JETS! JETS!

We are underrated but the injuries to Coples and Sanchez hurt us where we are weakest.

I am looking forward to this season, my expectations are low but we are a rebuilding team with a rookie QB - we have some young players I want to see develop (Wilkerson, Coples, Smith, Hill, Davis), no really key players that are about to retire in the next year or two so plenty of time for us to compete if we can somehow get the QB position sorted (and at this stage Smith could still turn out to be good or even very good once he gets a few games under his belt).

Yes, my expectations are low. But not because of anything a newspaper says. Still, let's let the season actually arrive before we pronounce it dead.

The media loves killing the Jets and they pile on sure, but make no mistake unless Geno is the next Kapernick or Wilson this team will lose double digit games and be a national embarrassment for two years running.

They have made the playoffs, they just haven't won the WS.

Like the last two I assume you mean, it won't be worse than that. The Jets won 14 games over the last two years and if you listen to the media they haven't won a game in 100 years so what are they going to say or do if we don't win a game in two years? They already blew their load.
