I think we are playing well and that the 2 reasons for the penalty's are :

    1. Our D line is so so young but are still playing good after they take the penalty's on defense.

2.) Vlad and Kyle. Vlad's first "Starter" playing game. Kyle is a OK player at best!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but our "flag problems" really only started in that one game. I don't really remember us getting flagged much before week 3.

I know Coples got called for offsides a few times. I think it's just a matter of not being completely back in the rhythm yet.

I haven't watched any of the penalties since the game, but Wilkerson and/or Coples said that their off-sides were from the center moving early

If you re-watch the line play you will see the Buffalo center bobbing his head up the down before finally lifting it at the snap. It's illegal!

The refs were on the take. We are still in a recession.

Penalties occur from a lack of discipline, you don't get accountability in a Rex coached team.

    I'll definitely rewatch.

They got called in a number of plays against Tampa where the guy actually lifted his backside to simulate the snap 5 times and the refs only busted him on it the first time.

Thing is, I have seen Mangold do it a few times as well (lift his head or ass). Might be another example of Goodell protecting the offense.

Weren't the Jets one of the least penalized teams during Rex Ryan era?

If penalties occur from lack of discipline and accountability, then i guess Rex been doing a tremendous job at both those things.

Jets have been one of the least penalized teams in the league since Rex has been here.
Wow, you just proved exactly the opposite point your snarky remark was meant to make! :eek:hmy:

Yea, I noticed this but the refs weren't calling it. It's something that's rarely called.

and 3) Willie Colon decked a ref in Week 2, and the other refs are not a big fan of that.

and last year we were 3rd best. so should we put more weight in the 16 games from last year or the 3 games of this year with 1 historically bad game in that mix?

i will believe this was an anomally until proven otherwise. you can panick and believe this is the trend. cimini and mehta need you to

In 2009 the NYJ had the 27th most defensive penalty yards.
In 2010 the NYJ had the 29th most defensive penalty yards.
In 2011 the NYJ had the 6th most defensive penalty yards
In 2012 the NYJ had the 20th most defensive penalty yards.

In 2009 the NYJ had the 26th most offensive penalty yards.
In 2010 the NYJ had the 6th most offensive penalty yards.
In 2011 the NYJ had the 18th most offensive penalty yards.
In 2012 the NYJ had the 30th most offensive penalty yards.

The Jets were better than the average ranked NFL team 6 times, 3 on offense and 3 on defense in the last 4 years.

Took me a couple minutes to pull this from the NFL.com stats website.

(off topic, but anyone see the newish NBA stats website? If the NFL could adopt this, it would be amazing. So much fun to take a look through and pull whatever you need. Even has some "advanced" stats too which is awesome. The NFL needs to hop on this soon.)

The BUF guy seemed to exaggerate it, but that could be my green goggles.

I saw this brought up earlier this week, I wonder if it's true. It had to be in the back of their mind, but to try and tank a game for a team, I don't think so.
