But...........we afford the underachievers Ellis,Robertson,Barrett,LeGree,Reed.If we dont retain Abe be prepared for the defense to be walked on all season. 2-14 qt best and guys like Vilma will demand a trade.
No single player is greater then a defense. If the players we have are on ths same page and play as a team we won't miss Abraham at all. Similar to how we didn't miss him at all in the playoffs last year.

That's definitely a very plausible choice but alot depends on what kind of pick we get in return for Abe. I also wouldn't be surprised to see the FO draft a either QB, DE Mario Williams, D'Brick or possibly even DT/NT Ngata in round one and then maybe OLB Thomas Howard or CB Cromartie in the 2nd round. I would love it if we could get a 1st round pick in exchange for Abe but even a second could provide us with some attractive opportunities.

Dump him!!! Dump Abraham now!!!!! He didn't play in the 2004 playoffs like Pennington. Abraham needs to be more like Pennington.
I don't want to lose Abe. Not at all. But that being said there is no reason we have to draft the same position just because we let him go. Assuming we get a decent pick for him we can address the D with it somehow but if we can somehow find a way to start turning this O around then the D can only be helped by that. Some people say that the D was so bad cause they were on the field so much so maybe we should start working on ways to keep our D off the field.
Abraham is the best player on our Defense. But we just cant afford to pay him a long term deal. Thats why he got the tag because hes getting traded. Hopefully we could get a 1st and a QB maybe Abe to the chargers for their 1st and Phillip Rivers.
