Big money league is done. I dont trust Powell now that the back field isnt empty. MJD? Rice? This blows. And as for the player. Had a good time watching him play this year. He is a beast of a wideout.
Foot injury...probably lisfranc. when did this occur in the game? After he caught the ball with one hand?
Of course, I'm 4-0 in my $100 yahoo league, and Julio Jones my top WR is probably out for the season. Sounds about right, I have the worst luck in the world.
I didn't notice anything last night. He did look like he was playing through pain towards the end, but I thought maybe he was just tired cause Falcons O was on the field so much.
5-0 in my league with Jones. My other WRs are Josh Gordon, Antonio Brown, and James Jones. But god damn! I liked having the depth at the position! Hopefully he isn't out for season. He is getting a 2nd opinion later today or tomorrow.
Yeah I believe he didnt get back on the field after that. Not 100% sure but I know he took plays off after that catch.
The human body can only take so much. You engineer a lot of it up to the max and you're just asking for a weakness to show up that was not prominent before. I hope it's not lis franc but if it is the NFL needs to look at why these things are happening at this point. This wasn't a common injury until about a decade ago. Now it's happening every year to several players and the skill position players are really getting hit hard.
I didnt draft Jones in my fantasy cuz i tought he wouldt get as many redzone targets as last season, most people had him as a high WR pick.
Thats a huge blow to my fantasy team. My first two WR's picked were Jones and Amendola. Now with Jones out I have to rely heavily on Amendola who can never stay healthy...
I remember reading somewhere that over the past decade most stadiums have switched to a new type of turf that is being played on. Maybe these injuries could be a direct relationship to the changes in turf over the years.
That's a possibility. The other real possibility is that the parts of the human body that are more dependent on bone and cartilage holding things together are beginning to break down under the accumulation of muscle elsewhere that has occurred over the last 4 decades. There may just be breakpoints in the human anatomy that are going to take much longer to naturally catch up to all the artificial engineering that is being done now. Jones injury is now being reported as a broken screw in one of his feet. The screw was inserted to correct an unspecified injury between his senior season and when he was drafted. Screws are used both to repair lis franc fractures and for other injuries so it is not clear if this is a lis franc injury or not.
The thread title might be a bit premature. They haven't put him on IR or designated him as done for the year yet. So far nothing has been confirmed. We'll see.
