Before we were forced to start Geno, every game except NE and Pitt turned out pretty much like I said it would. This team is a road-grader, and as Smith improves, it's only getting better. We should have crushed NE, and Pitt, but you have to cut Geno slack. This team, realistically should be 7 wins in. Looks pretty good to me. A week off before the Jills, and 2 against a team missing two guards? Fact is, absent Geno's 3 late picks on bad play calls (not entirely his fault) right now they should be the best team in the division.
So in your theory, Indianapolis and San Francisco are not "good" teams either? Indy lost by 30 in week 10 against St. Louis. San Francisco lost by 26 in week 2 against Seattle and lost by 20 in week 3 against Indy. Losing with lop-sided scoring is not necessarily a declaring agent of a "good" or "bad" team, unless it is repeated on a game to game basis. That's part of the NFL. Teams sometimes get blown out. The Jets are absolutely a good team. Are we a great team? By no means. To sit here and say we are not a good team because we lost 2 games by a blowout, is just not a correct assessment.
The Jets have scored 169 points this year and allowed 231. Just don't get carried away with the playoff talk. They may make the playoffs with some luck and playing at the top of their game, but they are just as likely to go 1-1 in the next two with a blowout loss and stop all the playoff talk. That's not to say they aren't better than the Bills but that's not a very high hurdle to get over. Putting it another way: in the games the Jets haven't been blown out in this year they have scored 147 points and allowed 144. They've beaten a 1-8 team and a 2-7 team. Doesn't sound so good when you look at it like that, right?
we arent a good team. we might not even be a decent team. we cant protect the ball and we cant get stops when we need them. we have also had an extreme amount of luck. we are very luck not to be 2-7. i still think 6 wins on the year is likely
Anything's possible with the Jets, wouldn't be surprising to lose out to finish the season, games were supposed to win are often lost.
If I were a betting man I'd take that bet right now. This team isn't winning 11 games. You've been not-so-subtly hijacking a number of threads lately with these two-pronged themed posts of yours: 1. "I predicted this...I said this...I told you...y'all should've listened to ME..." 2. (covertly): "If only 'Mark' were starting..." Again, more "Mark for President" campaigning. If you're assuming that winning NE at NE and Pitt were slam dunks, then putting the shoe on the other foot I can just as easily contend that Mark doesn't win the Atlanta or NE #2 game. Works both ways. So long as Brady's playing, we are not the best team in the division. But this thread is about the odds, NOT the ad nauseum "what if?" lost QB lamenting. Buffalo's at home, they've played everyone tough including wins over the Panthers & Ravens, went many weeks without a starting QB which shows that Doug Marrone is a good coach who can get a team (without EJ and with a losing record) to still keep playing hard. The Jets, normally a media punching bag, are starting to get some 'prop' press...gotta think the Bills would love to shove some "Same Old Jets" down their throat.
The media almost never gets the Jets right. They use them as a selling device and kind of coast on their most recent exploits, tacking towards the consensus or occasionally being the loud outlier. If you look at the 2013 Jets it's pretty clear that the success so far has been equal parts luck and a defense that can be absolutely dominating at times and just vanish at others. The wins against the Patriots and Saints were essentially Tom Brady and Drew Brees beating themselves mentally and the Jets following up big time to put the nail in the coffin. Neither of those great QB's were mentally prepared to face the dominating defensive line performance on the day they lost. They both had the fear of getting crunched by a big fast defensive lineman in a game they did not absolutely have to win. Some times game film, in this case of Mo Wilk, Sheldon Richardson and Damon Harrison, is enough to plant the seed of doubt. That seed went different directions against the Pats and the Saints. Brady got angry on the sidelines and was screaming at his blockers and receivers. That set the tone for most of the game. Brees just looked very apprehensive against that rush and you have to think the look in his eyes was there in the huddle also. We should be glad that we're getting a look at the Jets future this year. It's just a glimpse really but in a year or two it's going to be the whole view.
You think we are going to win 1 more game this year with the easy second half schedule after beating teams like NE and the Saints? If there is an opposite to koolaid you're drinking it. jets stop the run better than any team in the year and the Bills have no passing game. We already ran on their defense once and we have 2 or 3 of our receiving options coming back. The Jets might not be a good team but the Bills are by far worse.
i hope we're never favored, doesnt matter what the "experts" think i was want to win (except you keyshawn, you got out backs!)
Joe, blow yourself. I haven't hijacked jack shit lately, because certain mods, feel its not right to critique St.Geno, in favor of he who shall not be named. Check my post history, and stop making up personal attacks. 3 picks, in scoring position, in the 4th qtr week 2' " throwing the game away" is a reasonable observation.
And P.S. Even given playing a rookie, they're at 5, with buffalo, and 2 against a game with no guards, aka, Miami. Thats 8
Your point would be stronger if Sanchez didn't have a clear and established track record of throwing back-breaking interceptions.
i have to agree br4d on this one. there has been alot of boners around here the past few weeks. the jets are still a work in progress and arent guaranteed any wins. this thread makes me think of bills over jets everytime i see it.
