At best the Jets would have one win under Sanchez. There is now way Sanchez could play with this OL. Sanchez's biggest problem is playing under pressure. He needs a completely clean pocket and surprise to complete some passes. This team is much worse offensively and defensively than last year in every area other than QB. Against Tampa we would have lost by 30+ with Sanchez at QB. He does not have the pocket presence or toughness to deal with the kind of pressure the OL has given up this year. It would have been real ugly. He also does not have the accuracy or the arm strength to throw the ball down the field. His accuracy and rating on any passes 15+ yards falls off a cliff. Sanchez needs a specific type pf offense that protects him to have any chance of success. The OL and the type of throws the QB is asked to make in this offense would be the worst possible thing for Sanchez. The positive for Sanchez is he would have had to take hits to survive in this offesne and would have been forced to actually move in the pocket rather than panic and freeze and take unnecessary sacks. There is a chance that our bad OL could have forced him to grow, learn to step up in the pocket like Geno has and become a better player. But then again he showed no signs of that for 4 years. But maybe with his job on the line he would have been willing to do a little more. The only good things I can say about having Sanchez as QB is we would be competing for the top pick in the draft, Geno would have had a year to sit and learn and his confidence would not have been wrecked by our OL.
:rofl: yep, w/ less talent and coaching a year ago we won 6 but we'd be 1-10 w/ him this year. it is so embarrassing to be a Jet fan sometimes.
Oh yeah. I suppose the Jets would be better off with a four year veteran running around with his eyes wide shut. That would really make the team play better.
Really-he carried our lame d and running game to 2 AFC finals. Sanchez was fucking awesome. With this OL and all the new weapons and MM calling the plays, plus the best Jets D since the sack exchange the Jets might be in the hunt for home field throughout.
excellent point.... and since the offense and washed up Eli the Interceptor has your Vagiants hopelessly out of contention in the worst division in the NFL, maybe Coach Grumpy the Grinch can pick up your boy Sanchez next season to take over the reins of your beloved Big Blow
You really want to hang your hat on the fact that Sanchez, in his fourth season, was incrementally better than Geno during a stretch where his costly turnovers killed the Jets' playoff hopes, earned the team a losing record, and got him benched for home games? Again, I like Sanchez. I look back on his time with the team with (mostly) positive feelings, and I feel he can still turn his career around. Heck, he probably is better than Geno, at this point. I think you're way overestimating the effect he'd have on this team, though.
Highly unlikely the Giants or Jets will be able to afford Sanchez next year. The bidding war for him is going to be through the roof!!
he had less talent to work with and TONY SPARANO. Mark was awful last year, as bad as could be yet still much better than Geno.
you can pretend it was all Mark's fault and he never did anything to help us, I choose to live in reality. Many are starting to realize how much better we'd be but the Jets fans that wanted him gone are getting what they deserve- unfortunately I am getting it to even though I don't deserve it.
I'm sure we'd be great with Mark, after all he looked fantastic in preseason. Y'know, apart from throwing another pick to a d-lineman, throwing another red zone pick and having yet another fumble or two. In about three-quarters of a game's worth of play.
