What is activating Houston going to honestly do?

Give us another option at RB. I thought Houston did a fine job last year spelling CM. But for whatever reason he has not impressed the coaching staff this year. My question is, what would it hurt to activate the man? You can make an argument both ways I guess... The fact that we have NO run game at the moment is a serious issue, maybe Houston would do a good job? I know the line is not blocking well, but our backs are not improvising very well. Hell CM did a decent job for many years with a half ass line, and Houston played last year with a half ass line as well, but performed nicely....We will never know unless they give him the chance to play in a REAL game this year.

Besides, no one on the active roster has really stepped up and taken the job.....

He doesn't play special teams, so it makes it harder to activate him. He is also not good against the blitz, and this new offense needs the RB to be good.

Also, if we keep relying on the passing game so much, eventually the other teams will not respect our run game, and start going after Chad on every down. No running game is gonna get our starting QB killed before the season is over. Any smart defense is gonna just pin back their ears and rush the passer....

OK, so do we want a running back that can run well and do an average job of blocking? Or do we want a running back that can block, but not run the rock? At this present time, we can only have one of the 2 options it seems? IMO.... A good running game is sometimes the best pass protection for a QB...If a team respects our run game, and our O-line can do a decent job of pass blocking, then naturally our QB is gonna have more time in the pocket.

Does KB play special teams? Besides, I'm sure there is someone we could sit that doesn't play much to allow us to activate Houston....

All I'm saying is, at this moment it wouldn't hurt to try any option we have to improve our running game. The guys we have now are not doing the job. No denying that fact.

I think the issue with Houston is that he has done poorly in pass blocking. Barlow has done well with the carries he's got IMO - hopefully he can get most of the carries this week, I think we'll be pleasantly surprised.

I have to disagree with Barlow doing well... I have watched both games, and I have seen nothing to give him any props. The reverse play that we did against Tenn. was the best run play of the year. Oh and Chad did have that QB sneak that gained 3 yards... Thats sad!

Give us more yards than Blaylock. Do you like less yards?

    Start him or Barlow.

There's no way the oline can be worse than last year... And Houston put up alirght numbers during his playing time behind that swiss cheese oline.

We should give him a shot this year.

I think Houston will be activated this week with Leon being deactivated. Dwight will take Washingtons spot as the PR..

I should have said he's done better than any of our other backs. He runs downhill and hits the hole hard most of the time ... except on 4th and inches when he pitty pattered towards the line of scrimmage. I guess he's supposed to start this week so we'll see how he does.

I think that houston should be active but I feel the coaching staff is afraid that he will put the ball on the ground. He does fumble more then you would like. put that with the fact he cant play ST and blockthey probably dont feel he deserves a roster spot right now. Hopefully I am wrong.

At least Houston won't run into the side of his blocker and then fall on the blocker's legs, like Blaylock has done.

While Barlow hasn't set the world on fire, he has on more than one occasion run for 4 yards. I'm not sure you can say that about Blaylock.

I read somewhere that Blaylock was to be our 3rd down back? I personally feel that Houston would be a far better 3rd down back, that would be a good reason to activate him regardless. Then again, the CS have done a good job with things so far, and you have to respect that. They know what they want, and hopefully this issue will get resolved soon.

It would be absolutely awesome if Houston started tomorrow and got 25 carries.
He looked good last year and would get 100 yards if he got 25 carries because he can break tackles.

Blaylock goes down if somebody near him sneezes.

I am officially on board the Cedrtic Houston 25 carry train.
    Go Ced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
