Agreed. Really don't understand why anyone would oppose this, given the available options. Sanchez? Vick?

    For anyone interested.

    In his career (10 years):

    67.4 Completion Pct.
    130 TD
    84 Int.
    89.8 Rating

This guy would be a GREAT signing as a backup/potential starter.

sure about that? even playing with andre johnson he has never thrown as many touchdowns in a season as mark sanchez did in 2011. the guy is a fraud im telling you. and the only reason i brought up sanchez is because you brought up other jets qbs as if he was so much better. buyer beware here...

Good signing for depth as long as our offensive unit is good at making the open field tackle before the other team takes it back for a pick six.

    This exactly.

I am 100% for this move.

This is coming from somebody who has A. never once been a fan, B. never owned him in my dozens, upon dozens of fantasy teams, C. has actually made bets against this guy on a normal basis.

I believe Geno is the guy, but he very well might pull a Sanchez, and Schaub could be made back into a decent 80-85 QB rating guy.

I would take Schaub over Mike Vick anyday as a backup, and to push Geno in camp

I'm totally sure about that. Mark was awful in 2011.

And Schaub has thrown 29 TD's in a season before which is better then Mark's best year. But I don't want to make this just about empty numbers. My point is the majority of his seasons he throws more TD's then he turns it over. He completes the passes he throws, he's smart with the football. We haven't had a QB who is smart with the football since Chad was here.

Schaub is way more productive then Mark has ever been. And to be fair, i'm not saying he is the answer. I just think he would be a good guy to have in case Geno doesn't work out.

Have you ever watched Schaub play? He's had the luxury of a top 5 OL, top 5 RB, top 5 WR the last 3 years. The Texans added the best WR in the draft last year and Owen Daniels is pretty solid. With all of that, Schaub hasnt done anything in reality. He was absolute garbage last year when he stepped on the field and was arguably outplayed and ultimately benched for an UDFA.

Why would we bench Geno and possibly stunt or limit some of his growth? To add to that, I highly doubt that anything we add this offseason will amount to the talent Houston has had in recent years, so why should we expect his play to get better when he's going to be 33.

I wouldnt trade for him, ever. And I wouldnt sign him for more than 2-3 mil a year which I highly doubt he will be okay with. His price tag will probably be in the 6 million range, and for that price I would MUCH rather sign someone like Jeremy Maclin and surround Geno with some weapons.

He'd be a solid vet QB that can push Geno. He's a guy that has had success so this is fine by me.

Are you willing to dish out a 2 year, 10-12 million dollar contract for a guy that should be sitting on the bench? Wouldnt you rather use that money to actually better a roster spot, by possibly adding Golden Tate or Jeremy Maclin with that money?

Oh good Lord. It didn't say the Jets were definitely interested though. Just that they might be.

    I agree with the bold.

On another note this thread proves my point. And some of the posts I've read are just so ironic.

Schaub made the playoffs I believe once in 7 years. That's with a lot more talent than what he will have to work with next year.

He's a system QB, his numbers are a product of quality offensive coaching and supporting talent.

So...MM is a pretty bright offensive mind. I think the general consensus is that the Jets are going to go out and revamp the offense as well, and bring in some talent.

Houston liked him when he was in Atlanta, they obviously saw something in him there as well. Not just before he got into their system.

Funny you should say that considering he's had his three best years outside of the past three years. Your theory is flawed by a statistical stand point. His best years were in 2008, 2009, and 2010.

And since when is it "stunting" a players growth by letting him sit behind a veteran QB? That's the way it has been for years until this new breed of quarterbacks came out like Luck, RG3, and Wilson.

    Couldn't agree more.

People forget, if Geno is the real deal at QB bringing Schaub in won't matter. He will eventually beat him out and prove he is the guy for the job. The cream rises to the top. Our coaches aren't idiots. If Geno is the real deal everything will work itself out. People forget that.

I would not mind Schaub at all but my issue is how much is it going to cost? Why spend 5 million to have a guy sit on the bench? Why pay a backup QB more than our starting QB? Why spend any money at QB when we have many other issues to address?
