Not that there are any "gimmes" for the Jets...but think about it. Miami twice, Buffalo at home, Detroit, at Green Bay, at Cleveland, Houston, Oakland are all games that will either be pick'em or the Jets outright favored. Let's say we blow 2 and win 6 of these 8....that's 8 wins. Pats, Indy, Jacksonville, Minnesota, and Chicago are the rest...can we find 2 wins in here? If so, that's 10. Gotta love the last place sked!
I don't think he's getting ahead of himself at all... The thread subject title implies a "just maybe" attitude...and I think it's a very realistic 'maybe' Lets go Jets!
anything can happen in any game...too many factors to look that far ahead...but i cant wait for next sunday...bring on the dolts
Groucho Marx had a famous saying about "I do not want to belong to any club that would have me as a member"... you guys need to enjoy and relax a little bit. I doubt my thread is Mangini's opening to his meeting tomorrow, but if you can't have some fun doing this, why bother. Net is that our sked gives us a chance this year.
Are we beating out the Steelers or the Ravens? Cincinnati is winning the North. One of the Steelers or Ravens is the first wild card. To make the playoffs we need to beat out not only the other of those teams but also Denver. Could it happen? Sure. Is it likely? Well I'll let everybody come to their own conclusions on that.
This just smells like 1997 to me. A huge improvement from a bad team that falls just short and then peaks the following season. I could be wrong, but it's likely gonna take Curtis Martin showing up ready to play game 7 and getting us 80-90 yards a game. Could it happen...?
the thing is, steelers, ravens, cincy, are all favored against us head to head. but that isnt how playoff teams are decided we have an easier schedule. we have to capitilize on it
I would be incredibly stoked if that would happen- it'd be insane I know its unlikely but it'd be awesome
I was thinking a 7-9 before the season started, but right now 9-7 is looking pretty decent, with an outside shot to sneak into the playoffs as a wildcard. Were looking decent but we have some problematic areas that are in immediate need of improvement, mainly our running game and our line (on both sides of the ball). Our run defense HAS to pick it up a few notches
I don't think we are a legit playoff team, but because of our schedule I think we have a shot to get there.
IMO, we've got a better chance at winning the division this year than getting the wildcard, because the second-place teams out there are at least as good as the Pats (Bradwaysucks should also have mentioned Jax). I'm thinking the same thing though, good performance but just short of the playoffs.
Only 2 games out of 16 are different for each team in the division. In our case, it's Cleveland and Oakland
Big difference between that team and this one. Chad Pennington is light years better than Neil O'Donnel and that team would have made the playoffs if Parcells hadn't lost confidence in O'Donnel.
