He is indeed. I said him and Coleman are really gonna be benificiaries of mangini coming in and while Coleman has dissapeared at times Rhodes has made opposing qb's his bitch.
only coleman im noticeing on the field these days is drew coleman.. Eric has been invincible all season
I'm tellin ya though...When he blitzes, he can get a late start on the snap and still get there in a blink! His closing speed on the Quaterback when he blitzes is eye-opening... Gotta love it.
Right now Rhodes is the difference in my keeper league. I'm winning 121.something to 100.something and Rhodes scored 21.something points. Weird settings in the league, but the commish and other guys are good, so I enjoy the league. Now I need Mike Bell and Jerrious Norwood to do alright. The other guy has the Falcons defense and DeAngelo Hall still to go. *** If Rhodes can avoid injuries in his career this guy is going to rack up a healthy number of sacks. 4 sacks in 19 career games thus far.
rhodes needs another huge game next week vs. indy...we need to get after peyton manning...however, now that he has done this 2 weeks in a row, indy will no doubt be game planning for rhodes, which only means someone else needs to step up and GET AFTER THE QB the whole secondary, rhodes, barrett, coleman, dyson, and justin miller all need to step up their games next sunday to stop the indy passing attack...with 3 excellent receivers and 3 excellent tight ends, and with JP Loseman moving the ball through the air quite effectively, those guys in the secondary need to have monster games...
Rhodes right now is proving Mangini right. It's obvious why Mangini was so high on him. He is a total monster on the field right now. He keeps up this level of play, he has a legit shot at a Pro Bowl appearance this year.
Not only is it the sack numbers, but often times the coverage in the secondary has been excellent. When we don't blitz we don't get pressure. Thomas is good against the run, but he doesn't generate any passrush. Losman was able to create today and throw for a bunch of yards because we had no pressure on the quarterback and anytime that happens the secondary is bound to break down. Mangini needs to try and generate some better linebacker blitzes rather then just throwing Hobson and Thomas around the outside because neither are natural pass rushers. We get pressure when he zone blitzes the safeties, and mix up the linebackers. Other than that Losman has time all game long. Rhodes is so quick off the egde, and while he's too good in coverage to be a strong safety in the box type of player, I'd love to see him given more freedom Troy Polamalu esque to be able to roam free. Only thing that scares me is that we need a better coverage safety over the top than Erik Coleman. Excellent openfield tackler in Coleman, but he really has few ball skills and route anticipation. He'll let them catch the ball, but he'll make the tackle. And while that's a good thing it's tough leaving him in deep coverage because he looks confused.
hes all over the field, he makes all kinds of plays and he's always around the ball. like i said, he will make the pro bowl this season
Rhodes has been awesome...he has been one of the best draft picks we've had in the past 5 or 6 years..kudos should also go out to Leon Washington and the spark he provided today...the kid made some nice plays and seemed to be the only guy in the running game to hit a hole...just seemed to me he gave our offense a shot in the arm
let's not get too crazy.... it looked to me like Parrish was Rhodes responsibility on that early TD. Don't get me wrong.... I'm a bog Rhodes fan, but much of what is happening with him now is sytem based. He has Rodney Harrison's role in the D scheme. I'm not saying his big plays are only a result of the system, he has the closing speed to fill the position, and he's a tough tackler who can evade blocks, but Coleman's role in this scheme is to be a stay at home safety. He may not make the highlight films, but Coleman was doing his job back there too. I've done some D Strait bashing here, and he played much better today. On a TD pass, he grabbed the Bills' WR by the arm and saved a TD.... a very nice play. I saw Miller miss some tackles today though.... he didn't play all that well.
Eric Coleman had a very solid game today, including a key tackle for no gain on a Bills 4th and 3/ 4th and 4 where he prevented the 1st down. Not getting the INTs he got as a rookie but he's been solid. Justin Miller has been our biggest liability in the secondary
he def made some big plays, i get excited seeing him come over that weak side past the defender ready to pounce.
