WE CAN'T BEAT THE PATRIOTS!!! All of our wins are sweet. I LOVED beating the Bills. But we are setting ourselves up for another disappointing conclusion to this season. If we continue to be intimidated by the Pats (and I am conviced at this point we are), the best we can ever hope for is a wildcard spot. And in the playoffs there is a great chance that we'll meet the Pats again...in THEIR park!! We will NEVER get to the big game if we continue to lose to New England. As we can all see by the first 3 weeks of play, the Patriots are a shell of their former selves, yet IN OUR PARK, we STILL couldn't beat the bastards. I think it's 80% mental more than anything else. They are not a better team then us on paper, yet MENTALLY we're not ready to defeat them. All these other wins are nice and sweet, but until we stop mentally wimping out when we play the Pats, the Jets will once again be at home on Super Sunday.
oh my god.. one game, in which we came back and showed we were not scared of them, and you're overreacting. ENJOY WHAT WE'RE DOING NOW. If we make the playoffs worry about it then.
I think you are way ahead of yourself here, I'll be frank I didn't see anything in the 2nd half of that game last week that said "intimadated". The old Jets under Herm quit in that game and they lose 35-6. This team did not quit and they were a few plays away from sending the game into OT. The reason I say you are ahead of yourself is that this team is not a playoff team, they have won 2 games because of grit and good coaching but that will only go so far. There comes a point when talent needs to take over and while there is some talent on this team I don't think they are good enough to play with the elite teams in AFC and we'll see that the next 2 weeks although I certainly think they can win at Jax. They were down last week because they didn't make plays when they needed to not because they were scared.
Rome wasn't built in a day. We are supposed to be rebuilding. The fact that we are appearing to be competitive despite rebuilding is just icing on the cake. Anyone going into this season with delusions of the playoffs is just a silly bird.
Uhmm, most magazines like SI and Espn gave us 5-6 wins this year. We already have 2 of those at week 3. After the Colts, I think we got a real shot at 8-8.
And the other 6 mean absolutely nothing. It's ONE GAME. This is an entirely different team... new GM, new Coach, new everything
On the money post. If you want your big brother to stop beating on you, you better be prepared to knock him out once.
You seriously think his post made sense? Come on man.. It was ONE game, a game in which we did not look scared. We're supposed to be a 4-12 team. We won a division game on the road, and another road game already. We also did not quit against the Pats... I know, no moral victories, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here and call it being scared. Sometimes the other team comes in and beats you...
getting ahead of yourself is a huge understatement.... The gap between the Pats and everyione else in the East has shrunk significantly. Are we in their league yet, no...nor did most reasonable fans expect that they were. Let's see how things unfold.........Pats were exposed last night as a team that can easily be stopped if they can't run the ball. And if we had any semblance whatsoever of a run D, we would've have beaten them last week.....i don't see them being intimidated at all.....but there still is a talent gap and a coaching gap that is in their favor, just not as much as in the past...... imho
I agree with tcrock. Fear plays nothing in this. Talent does. The Pats want to run the rock. We have trouble stopping it. It's not being scared... it's just the facts.
There was no intimadation last week, like I said earlier they were down because they played aggresive and failed to make plays when they needed to. If they were intimadated they lose that game 35-6 not have an oppurtunity to send it in to OT with a minute to go. Lets just say the Pats right now are a better team but there is no way the Jets are scared of them or anybody else. Buffalo was not aplace the jets won in the past few years but aside from that Roscoe parrish TD the jets were the better team and the winds of Buffalo or history didn't deter them one bit yesterday. This is not a CS or team that is going to run and hide.
I have absolutely no problem with the Jets losing 7 in a row to a superbowl contender. If the Jets were a team predicated on making the playoffs and going further, then it is a different story. Streaks are made to be broken, and this one will be eventually. Look at how many times we beat the Fish consecutively, and where it got us. No one remembers; no one cares. Lets just take it step by step.
The Jets made strides against the Pats, and I think we are capable of beating them too. It may ultimately have been a good lesson for the Jets in losing to the Pats, but Al is right, the Jets won't get over the proverbial hump until they take out the Pats. They have to tell the Pats "this division is yours no longer".
If memory serves me.....NO TEAM REMAINS UNBEATABLE in NFL...and this is a basically a new team that has coaches recognizing your point and working on it....they talk about one game at a time...but we all know they do a TON of in season work on nemesis teams...and these coaches...and I do believe this young team is gonna get their foot on New Englands throat yet
