It sounds plausible. New regime in TB. New GM. New HC. New DC. None of those guys are stakeholders in the Revis deal. All of them want to play a Cover 2 next year. Revis is ridiculously expensive on the cap for a Cover 2. What you want is 4 guys back there making about $4M each. Solid cover guys who can play the scheme and read the CB. Having Revis back there is like bringing a rocket launcher to win a fist fight.
Except that Lovie Smith has said repeatedly that they will pretty much live and die playing man coverage this year. Cover 2/Tampa 2 was his scheme of choice years ago but he has gone away from it when he has the personnel like when he was in Chicago.
maybe they agreed to a deal with revis to come back for like 10 mil if hes cut. seeing how hard it was to get what he wanted last season he might be willing to take a cut to go with an organization on the upswing that he is familiar with and thrived in.
New regime, new beginning. All Tampa loses are picks. They don't owe him any money since there were no guarantees on his contract and would save cap space. He's a great CB, but may not be in the plan for Lovie.
Revis sucks simply because he`s a cancer with his greed. Good for him he was able to extort what he did from the Jets and Bucs. Be gone I say. The Jets simply should`ve let him rot on the outside after his second hold out. He`d be nothing to talk about right now. A Non-Factor in the NFL. I despise players like him. He plays a game and thinks he can rape the league and fans like he did. He`ll be nothing from here on out anyway. His greed destroyed his career regardless of how "set for life" he may be. Lets see what he does with his life from the extorted fortunes he pocketed in his quite short career.
People need to put there hate aside for Revis. Everybody says it a business when a team cuts someone with a few years left on their contract. It also a business when a guy holds out for more money.
looks like JETS are bringing back the old 2 together again, Revis and Cro, my guess (if no one takes Cro first).
Revis is amazing but I only want him back if the pats are going to sign him. I wish they would re sign cro and try him at safety.
I`ve already decided football is NOT worth it to me. I was a mental patient fan until maybe 2005. Thats when I realized what a douche I was with the Jets especially. I no longer support any pro sports financially, aside from whatever cut they get from my monthly cable bill. I`m actually selling everything sports related that I own. Time for ME to get back some of the $ I wasted on sports. It`s a business, right? Thing is for me, I ain`t lookin to get top dollar. Just looking to get whatever someone else is willing to give me for my collectibles.
I did not. Neither did some others. I was right and all those happy to see him gone were wrong. The silver lining of this awful season, and it aint much to be sure, is knowing I was right. I would prefer to be wrong, but it is what it is.
I'm glad you were right. Most wanted him gone. If you being correct is a silver lining for you, I'm very happy for you.
The current CB situation is more of a mess than I can completely fault Idzik for (though there's no doubt it was botched to an extent), but given the decision to go with a vet on a one-year deal rather than someone like Verner or DRC and plan for Milliner and McDougle to be the future, I didn't like the choice of Dimitri Patterson (now I REALLY don't like it). If you're going with someone for one year, why not just bring back Cromartie? He was clearly dealing with a nagging injury all season and the replacement was an even older, more injury-prone guy with a less impressive track record.
Well of course it is. You don't want to take that sliver of satisfaction away from me, do you? I was right about Kyle Orton, too.
Just to keep things in perspective to, Antonio Cromartie had more interceptions last week than the Jets have had the entire season. Crucial interceptions to, not just some in garbage time.
