When he can cover Stephen Hawking on a pass route without giving up a TD.

If the CS can translate the quickness he shows on blitzes and hustling after busted plays in the backfield to his coverage skills--or at least teach him enough anticipation to keep him from getting burnt, he'll get a chance to show his run-stuffing skills. Right now, he's too much of a liability. Pass coverage is not a skill he had at OSU, either.

Nice Article about D'Brick from the opponent's viewpoint. While our scheme contributed to his success, he also flashed during the game.

Jets made quick work of Buffalo's pass rush

A Buffalo Bills pass rush that was ferocious last week at Miami was toothless against the Jets Sunday. Buffalo never got much pressure on Jets quarterback Chad Pennington, who was sacked once but was rarely harassed.
The Jets' game plan had a lot to do with that. Pennington threw a lot of short passes off of three-step drops. Even when he made deeper drops, the ball was out of his hand before the Bills could get to him.

The Buffalo defensive linemen were instructed to get their hands up if the pass rush wasn't working, but they were unable to bat any passes down.

"We were using the same moves and blitz packages we used last week, but it was one, two and the ball was out of there," said defensive end Ryan Denney, who knocked Pennington down just after the ball was released. "It's frustrating as a defensive lineman. It's almost like you're helpless. You get a good pass rush on your guy and the ball's away. They did a great job of taking us out of our blitz package and taking the pass rush out of the equation."

The Bills had hoped to exploit the Jets' patchwork offensive line, which included two rookies (left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold) and was missing veteran left guard Pete Kendall due to injury.

But Ferguson and Mangold held their own against the Bills' stunts, bull rushes and blitzes. Denney was especially impressed with Ferguson, the fourth overall pick in last April's draft.

"I think he's improved since the first game," Denney said. "He got me once and I got him a couple of times. But he's got all the physical tools. He's big, he's quick and he's very athletic. He just has to go through the learning experience of what to expect from a defensive lineman. But I can see why they drafted him as high as they did."
