When my mother we young she got into some money trouble. She was approached by a strange man who offered her $1000 if she sold the soul of her first born child to the NY Jets. She took the money.
I blame mine as well, but even if I was given the chance to start over and pick any team I wanted, I would never change.. The Jets just do it for me I don't know.
I randomly met Chad Cascadden on the train. He told me the story of how he got to the NFL as an undrafted free agent (after being a walk-on college player), and some stories about the '98 season, and I thought: "Well, okay, I'm going to be a Jets fan now."
I'm not exactly sure. I think someone in my family, maybe my aunt or uncle bought me a Keyshawn Johnson shirt and I was forever initiated. That along with that 1998 playoff run.
pretty much this. living upstate there were giant fans and cowboy or steeler fans because they were winning. i started watching football and there is #99 in green and white doing this crazy dance. hooked me immediately. the clincher came a years later when a bunch of jets came and played a basketbll game against the high school booster club. brad baxter , eric mcmillan, james hasty and a few others i don't recall came and put on a show and hung out a just talked and were very friendly and helped raise money for the school. was very impressed by them
Can't we just bump the other 13 threads that are the same as this? Did they get lost in the board switch? I feel like somebody posts this thread 3-4 times throughout the year.
born into it seeing as how my dad was a fan, REALLY started following the Jets as a kid during 2002. That year I went to my first game; Jets-Packers week 17. yup my first Jet game was the day they won the AFC east. Now I just can't find it in me to switch to any other team, I mean how can i root for a team I've never been pissed off at before? Its just not the same...
I have a few interesting stories... I started being a Jet fan because I used to go to camp at Hofstra University when they used to do Jets Fest every year, plus my favorite color was green so it was a good fit, but the interesting part is... My mother is a realtor and sold condos to both Lavernius Coles and Santana Moss (just after Moss was drafted). Moss' deal on the condo was going to fall through because the homeowners didn't let Moss move in when they said they would (after training camp would have started), and he was ready to call off the deal and move into a hotel for a time. But since me and my siblings at the time were away at camp, my dad stayed with his brother and my mom stayed at my grandmother's for about a week, and Moss stayed at my house with his wife until they were able to move into their place about a week later. True story.
Yup, me as well. Only my Dad was a Giants fan and I thought it would really piss him off if I chose the other NY team. I was just at that age.
Was eight years old when the Jets won SB3, and got caught up in the whole New York championships of Jets, Mets, and Knicks. Been a loyal fan of all three ever since.
