Just looked at the wednesday press conference with Ben Graham. Mangini says that we're going to mix up our offensive front with a mix of backs and maybe 5 WR sets , looks to be a shootout boys and girls , can't wait!!:jets:

o man some 5 wide sets? i love it

imagine spreading coles,j-mac, cotch, shave boy, and brad smith out...thats a tough set to match up with...i'm also looking for brad smith to throw at least one pass on a trick play...but let's face it, it probably isn't best to get caught up in a shoot-out with the colts...since mangini has experience shutting down peyton manning and the colts, hopefully he has a good game plan

5 WR is a great idea, we can't run so we might as well overload the pass attack

As Mr. SowellLove mentioned above, I believe the last thing we want is a shootout with Manning. Five WR sets are a sure way to get Chad killed, I'm thinking he is just giving Dungy something else to worry about. But who knows, stranger things have happened...

We can't exactly slow the game down either, we may have to go to a shootout, and hope our D makes a few more plays than they do, because neither team can run the ball so it is hard to see that the game won't be a shootout

I actually believe we can slow the game down. I think we will see more of Houston and Washington this week, and the Colts run defense is nothing to brag about with Simon hurt. Run right at Freeney and he will just blow right pass you on the way to the QB. Plus if they do struggle WR and RB screens will help pick up the short yards early. Also, Chad has a QB rating of 128 on third down so far this year, that also is a good way to keep drives moving and the clock rolling. But if we do get into a shootout, putting in 5 wides and leaving Chad out there in no mans land may not be a good idea. He'll have to take 3 step drops and complete the short slants that he can just as easily do in more traditional formations. Doing it once in a while to throw them off balance may be useful, but I don't see it as a real tool for this game. We shall see.....

This should be an interesting game. If the Colts use Rhodes and only let Addai get 3 carries, the running game may indeed struggle. But if Adai gets more touches, you may be a bit surprised. Addai has shown a LOT of promise. Team YPC is low 3's, but Addai is about 4.7. My guess is that Dungy has a plan to bring the rookie along, and is sticking to it. Just like with Freeny, who didn't start until halfway through his rookie year even though it was clear that he was the stud. My guess is that Dungy wants Addai to be fresh when the playoff come.

As for the Colts' run D, it has been suspect. But there have ben some signs of life. First, Tiki makes it hard on any D trying to stop the run. And let's face it, the Colts D was not stepping up. Same for the Jags game. Until the half. The Colts only allowed about 30 yards rushing in the second half. Why? They started playing the way they were supposed to! Go ahead and run at Freeny. He's supposd to try to stop the run on the way to the QB. The LB has responsibility for the gap. Those things weren't happening.

We will see what happens Sunday. The Colts seemed to fix the run D problem in the second half. Will it be a permanent fix? We shall see. If it is, the D just took a giant step up. If not, it will be more of the same.

    Just a Colts fan's perspective.

    Good luck and NO INJURIES!

One must be prepared for a shootout when playing the Colts. But they should stick with what works for now. Eat the clock and mess with Peyton and disrupt his timing. Maybe our defense finally comes out and shows that they are getting it. But if he breaks loose and Marvin is tearing it up then we are prepared with the 5 reciever sets or even 4 for that matter. I think our recievers match up well with their secondary. Speed on speed.

I agree with baamf that the 5 wide is scary and we could potentially lose our season (QB) if Chad holds it more than 2.5 seconds.

I agree too, unless one of those WRs is Brad Smith in which case if I were a D coordinator would have to take that into consideration. So he may not be as exposed as you would think.

...........Brad Smith motions from the right slot into the back field at RHB and takes the direct snap. Brad rolls right with the moving pocket and Chad picks up the blitzer from the left side thowing his left shoulder at him to protect his weaker right arm sending the rusher flying into an uncontrollable spin. Mcreriens and Coles run short routes and help block on the right side Brad pulls the ball down as if to run but then drops back looking left downfield and fires the bomb across the field to a streaking Leon Washington up the left side all alone cause Cotchery ran a mid post pattern drawing the safety in across from left to right. :eek:hmy:

If I have to watch plays like this I'm going to need a refill on my Valium prescription before the game.

All I'm going to say is that I'm thrilled to live in a time where I can hear "Jets plan to mix up offense" and not fear a Lamont Jordan pass to the endzone.
