Looks like Sanchez is having good time in Philly; and he really is a good kid. He even took high road when asked about all the bullshit this organization threw at him [especially Idzik] when he could have been cut earlier last off season. --------------------------------------------------------------- So... the question boils down to: who sucked more? Schottenheimer or Sanchez? I am leaning toward Schottenheimer. His offense NEVER looked good under any circumstance. At least this Sanchez kid in Philly looks very good thus far; with right offense around him, maybe he can even revive his career. Schottenheimer? Fat chance to put it nicely, if you ask me.
Didn't realize Sanchez was playing that well in philly.... Do you have a link? Anyway , I would have loved to see him get a chance last season with MM at OC. It would have been interesting and really IMO either revitalized his career or put the nail in the coffin of Sanchez being a guy who had some clutch playoff performances, but ultimately was never that good and ultimately lost his confidence
A QB who constantly threw the ball at opponents more than his own teammates OR A offensive coordinator who was more predictable than a five year old with a short fuse not getting his way. Tough choice.
Schotty was a boiled turd. Sanchez almost got there, then injured his throwing shoulder. The rest is Fucked.
Schotty, he may the biggest reason the rams fall flat of expectations. his scheme is just trash… St Louis picked the wrong guy to give Bradford continuity with. Sanchez is just kinda mediocre, with a bad habit of turning the ball over. Schotty's maybe the worst OC in the game right now.
This is kinda like asking which smells worse: Chickenshit or Cowshit. If you've ever lived in a rural area, you'd know there's a huge difference.
Both were good for us, it's a shame we need to bash guys who helped us get closer to a SB than most of us have ever seen.
One line summary: 71/88, 3 TD, 1 INT; all with 2nd teamers, but Sanchez never looked this good against ANY group here in NY. [His best summer was last year, when he was throwing 65% for the first time ever in his career. In his first year with Eagles, he's throwing 80%. Get the point? And NO. He didn't stay in Chip Kelly's system for years either. One off season in Chip Kelly's offense >>> A few YEARS in Schottenheimer's offense. Yeah. Get that to your head.] http://www.nj.com/eagles/index.ssf/...rkley_day_4_breakdown_from_training_camp.html I am inclined to think that, Sanchez could have been pretty decent QB - except he had the worst OC human race could possibly concoct here in NY. P.S. Schottenheimer has yet to look good as an OC. Sanchez did his part already - and he tried his gig 2 years after Schottenheimer got his head start. That has to say something. By now, I am sure that, if Schottenheimer commanded 1984 49ers, they would rank at the upper half, not at the best.
No Scottenheimer was not good junc. We have already discussed this. Scottenheimer you maybe give 5% of the credit to. Maybe less.
I'm going with BOTH, however I do feel that Schotty sucks more. Sanchez had to deal with a lot of personnel shifts on offense with the his top receivers constantly changing (Cotchery, Keller, Edwards had the best chemistry with him but we didn't keep them), plus Sanchez had to deal with Wayne Hunter essentially destroying his career. Once Sanchez gets hit hard in a game, he'll be done again. He's soft and gets rattled easily now. I wouldn't bank on those TC #s, he had decent numbers with the Jets in TC, although not that good. The Eagles 2nd team D is probably garbage, don't forget they had the worst passing D in the league last year. Compared to facing our D, it's probably a cake walk for him.
I remember so vividly that clip of Sanchez on draft night smiling his ass off when he was on the phone getting the call from Rex/Tannenbaum and having that feeling of "We just drafted our quarterback of the next 10 years". Then I realized he only started like 13 games in college in the not so defensive minded Pac-10 and my buzz was a tad less enjoyable. The only QB's that can come in right away are the "rare" ones (Luck, Manning, etc.) and Sanchez was not even close too that caliber and needed to sit at least 1 full year. We didn't sit him because he was competing against Clemens (insert chuckle here) and the rest is history. So...system or quarterback? I have to believe the system didn't particularly matter because it was being run by someone who wasn't ready. So, my vote is for Tannenbaum who didn't have a good veteran QB to show Sanchez the ropes for the 2009 season and then give Sanchez the keys to the car for 2010 and beyond. Just my two cents...
That Steelers goal line sequence in the AFC championship will forever doom Schotty in my book. That pretty much summed up his time with the Jets. Instead of playing to your team strength, try a few gimmicks to catch them off guard and fail because every team in the NFL knows that's what he does. 3rd and 15? Lets run it up the middle or run a trick screen pass with no blockers.
