I love the guy but hopefully this game will end the talk of him being an elite safety. Could he be one day..sure, but right now he's below average in coverage. Manning ate him up today. In fact I think the Jets should have blitzed him becuase he wasn't making much a difference in coverage. He's no Harrison or Polumalu.
Yep ... he got burned on that TD to Fletcher. Him and Miller have a world of physical talent, but something is very wrong with their coverage technique.
damn you guys are annoying no one can make a mistake with out you tryna down there status. its getting annoying. he got beat for a TD. so has ed reed, brain dawkins and everyother safety in the league. it happens. withno pass rush i dont care who is in ur secondary ur gonna get beat.
He's been basically non existent in coverage all season. He's a good tackler and great and going after the passer but he's not good in coverage. When's the last time you have seen the guy break up a pass? Even his INT this year was a tipped ball where he was lucky to be where he was. He is a good young player but has a long way to go before he's on Dawkins aor Reeds level.
i didnt see him on blitz or coverage and any play over the top was a bad play by a corner so he didnt play too bad, nor good. no one had flecther on that play
im sure the colts game planned for rhodes, which is why we saw coleman on a blitz once, but i didnt really notice much blitzing
manning burnt him all day?? MANNING BURNT EVERYONE ALL Day.. even veteran andre dyson.. coleman miller.. everyone.. the secondary was not at the game today, and to just blame rhodes isnt fair.
Thats true but I didn't read articles in the paper all week about Coleman being the next Ronnie Lott or how Justin Miller or Andre Dyson are the next Champ Bailey or ty Law.
i didnt read a rhodes article comparing him to ronnie lott. ur just in hating mood.. thats fine. rhodes is still a stud.
It's your fault for eating up what the media is feeding you, you don't become an elite player in a span of 2 weeks. Had you (and others) realized that you would realize that he still has alot of work to do if he is to reach that level.
I'm just hating because he was supposed to be our secret weapon against the Colts and instead he made like Houdini and dissapeared.
Generally speaking, if you don't see an FS in coverage..it's a good thing. It means he's taking away the deep pass and doing his job
Rhodes has never been that great in coverage, but he (like Coleman) makes up for it with his ability to read throws and make the big play. Good offenses will exploit poor coverage and to be fair to Rhodes he was not getting a ton of help from the rest of the defense.
He didn't have the flashy game...But I know he made Peyton burn 1 timeout for his pre-snap confusion coming up to the line, jumping around and then dropping back forcing Peyton to burn a TO... Yes he was quiet...But that's what's going to happen when offensive coordinators start to notice you more and want to try to keep you at vague and limit you in playmaking ability... I'm happy at how they contained Manning for the most part...But when it came to crunch time, Peyton delivered.
Rhodes got caught in a tough situation today. He didn't play his best but then again.....NO ONE plays their best against Peyton Manning.....well, unless your name is Rodney Harrison of course.
About Rhodes not breaking up any passes today. He was the one who broke up the pass play over the middle and caused a deflection that was almost picked off and would have sealed a victory.
