Three more questions, Nostradamus. If the Jets should not have taken Smith, who in your mind should be the QB right now assuming Smith was not drafted by the Jets last year? And given that Smith was drafted, how would you fix the position and who should be the QB now that he was drafted and is a Jet. And with Ryan about to fired in your scenario, who should be the next coach?

We are close in age but you are in better health, kudos!!! Broke my leg in two places last December and had to rehab most of 2014 so now my jogging days are over. The exercise bike is just fine so I use it everyday. Nice to hear you are thinking and looking young. Speaking of time can you believe we saw the Jets win the SB with Namath?? He had a 50 or 100 grand contract and all of NY thought that was highway robbery.
Fast forward to today there is no semblance of an organization like the early days. I don't even think you can compare that weasel WJ to Leon Hess, a man brimming with class. Yes, we enjoyed hiatus when Parcells was actually a part of this team. Now we have, Buddy Ryan's brat, Rex throwing his mouth and (former) weight around spewing his BS. You are spot on about EGO being more important to Rex and Geno than commanding/fielding a team. Idzik is a well educated con man and Woody the object of his grifting; he is milking the Jet corporation like a seasoned corporate leech.. Rex is the dodo bird who plays with his defense and forgets a team has to score points to win a football game. Yes, what a brain trust!!! Someone on the Board of Directors has to put his foot down before we go another 5 agonizing years. Smith needs to chuck football (like his passes) and get a job a Genos Pizza lol. Maybe he will create the first Jet green and white pizza pie. Did you ever hear of a QB who is a perpetual student? All we hear of is how Geno is studying so hard like he has to stay in Prep school. Big deal...how many TDs does he have? Or even a long pass completion?? It's nice to vent, but here are my best and admirable players to watch:

    Vick
Powell, Richardson, CJ the entire Jet backfield...are biggest hope to stay in games
Decker, Kerley,Gates, all the Tight Ends, Salas ...all trying to work with Smith
Wilkerson, Richardson, Harris, Euwanura, Edds, Douzable all good players

It's late and I can't think of any others at the moment.....Keep the faith

Wow - such ingratitude towards Parcells. We were 1-15 in '96 and Parcells took over and went 9-7 in his 1st year and the following year 12-4 losing to the Broncs in the AFC championship. The following year would have been the year had Testerverde not gotten injured. No he didn't finish the job but it was a hell of a transformation. Regardless, this team has not been a serious contender for a championship since that loss to the Broncos. Rex's teams had some spunk but overall are too unbalanced. And as far as predicting the next 5 years of mediocrity, I am just being a revisionist. I see the Sanchez scenario happening all over again, waiting for their frannchise QB to blossom again. This team's defense is good enough to get them into the playoffs...just like when Sanchez was QB. Close but no cigar. I don't see anything in Eugene that marks him as a 'franchise QB'. And you don't need to be a franchise QB to win a SB. See Ravens, Seahawks, Tampa. Nice to have one but it can be done. Problem with Eugene is he is not a franchise QB nor is he a game manager like Wilson, Johnson or Dilfer who won SB's. Eugene is prone to make mistakes. He holds on to the ball way too long and runs like a an idiot. He is going to get CLOCKED. Idzik's boy will be extended because he's Idzik's pick. Just like Tanny stayed with Sanchez. The Jets WILL have some success but it will be mild. It will be similar to Rex's first few years. This team will fall short and they will say...wait till next year. Sanchez will be better blah blah blah, Eugene will be better blah blah blah.
Its easy to predict the future...just look at the past.

Along with his physical gifts, the 6'5", 230-pound Manning also developed a reputation as a voracious student of the game, poring over game film to analyze his opponents.

Honestly, do you always write statements that lend themselves so easy to criticism? For a man of advanced age, how don't you know that great quarterbacks are also great students of the game?

wow those are EXCELLENT questions Joe Willie White Shoes.
First off, I would not have drafted a QB in 2012. The QB class SUCKED. Sanchez was locked into a contract for another year and I would have just let that play out, as they did.
So instead of drafting Eugene, Lacy would have been my pick. Sanchez the QB for 2013, then see ya.
Sign Vick, as they did. Let him start and in 2013, the year to draft a QB..... take Manziel, Bridgewater or Carr who were all there.
Personally, I Like Bridgewater or Manziel, either would have been fine. They could SIT for a year or two like the Packers did with Rodgers.
As it is now, Eugene was drafted and was horrible last year.
I would have STILL drafted Johnny or Bridgwater, still start Vick and let the others learn, compete and when the time is right, the best man wins.
But the reality is, we are stuck with Smith even if Vick supplants him this year. Next year Vick is probably gone.
I don't see Idzik cutting ties with Eugene for awhile even if he stinks, which he will.
As far as a coach to replace Rex, how about his brother LOL. Pat Shurmur, Darrell Bevell or my pick.... Sean McDermott

It's so easy to say what you would've done which is why this post is so dumb and irrelevant.

Sanchez was clearly done with this team the way things ended in 2012. He really was ruined and regardless of how his career goes from here on out the guy had no confidence playing in a city that was ready to shred him apart at the first interception. He got his share of time with some success with a team built around him to win.

Bring in Tebow and ruin his confidence to the point where a gimmick offense was forced down his throat.

But stop with the shoulda coulda woulda bullshit. Every team saying that makes them the 2000 legends team.

  7. I have a different take on the "extra curricular" penalty laiden stuff we've seen from the OL. While it has to get toned down somewhat...in both games thus far we've seen the whole team really respond as soon as the guys upfront started their little scuffles. Maybe It's a hockey "enforcer" type thing..but if it gets the team into their physical mode..I'm all for the big guys defending turf.

I miss Leon Hess.....class act all the way. I hate Woody Johnson, I cant stand republicans. And I've had enough of Rex's chirping bullshit. He is obviously kissing Idzik's azz.
Saying that Eugene is gonna be hard to beat, 'looks great in preseason' Really? Compared to last year , yea he looked great seeing how last year was a complete and utter embarrasment.
Give me a freakin break. Vick is light years the better QB and should be the starter. Since when does a GM have say so over a coach as to who starts? Oh, I see when its the Jets.

What's dumb is you cant read. White Shoes asked me for my opinion as to what route I would have taken or would NOW take.
Its a hypothetical response. I know its a big word for you, look it up and maybe just maybe you can think of something relevant to say.

Jets Rbs were 6th in the league last year. Since then we've added CJ1K.

It's gonna be a good year running.

I bet a lot of teams would take a 'complete and utter embarrassment' who can win 8 NFL games his rookie season.

considering he had very little to do with the 8 wins and practically everything to do with the 8 losses, I 'm not so sure.

Well since we had no offense last year, who exactly won the 8 games for us? Our Defense sure didn't score any points....they were too busy giving up TD after TD after TD to even notice the score.

So you are saying that because our Geno studies voraciously like a Manning he steps out the next day and PLAYS like a Manning.?????????? From your mouth to Gods ears lol Geno can study up and down but how does that make him more talented?? Maybe he learns to ditch the ball or not to flip it up in the air, yes But if 32 QBs in the league study before a game and some flop and some do well, all things being equal, I sincerely doubt that ONLY difference was who studied harder. You missed my point entirely, reread the post.
