What did you guys expect today? Another 41-0 blowout? I'm seeing posts that have people bitchin that we lost the game. Nevermind the effort. Nevermind we took one of the best teams in the AFC to the mat today. Nevermind we covered the spread and actually controlled the game with not much of a defensive effort.. Noooo, its easier to keep unrealistic expectations and be pissed about the loss today..

Mangini screwed up today for the FIRST TIME. It won't be the last but you had to know it was gonna happen sooner or later. You also have to realize this defense is still a WORK IN PROGRESS guys! Its still evolving every friggin week. So is our running game and our passing game.

This nonsense of folks being pissed is a direct result of folks not buying into the concept of rebuilding. We have a ROOKIE HC working with guys for the first time. We have a QB fresh off injury learning a NEW SYSTEM. We're still trying to find a running game and a pass rush. We're REBUILDING....

Patience is called for here. Everyone who's bitchin about the loss today should inhale, sit down, and realize exactly what they're seeing on the field and the sidelines. Mangini will have a learning curve just as steep as any other rookie coach. This team's learning curve will be as shallow or as steep as it's talent allows..

Relax people! We're not going to the Super Bowl this year but WE DON'T SUCK EITHER!!!.

Try patience for a change and enjoy watching this team develop into something special.. :)

Its a step in the right direction my man. This is a lot better then we could have ever expected. Regardless of how it worked out and regardless of the loss. We played the best team in the NFL till the clock ran 0:00. Even though we have a few questionable things we still managed to redeem ourselves.

Watching Justin Miller get called for an awful Pass Interference call, then follow that up by returning the kick and showing his toughness and speed.

Thats heart my friend and when players play like that you can build a pretty solid team.

They play their asses off for this coach. I cheered my ass off for this coach and team as well.

Proud to be a Jets fan today more than ever.

Its OK to be pleased, even ECSTATIC about the effort level, but also pissed that we lost the game.

Very tough to be pissed when every non Jet fan around felt the Jets had no shot of winning. The fact we were 9 1/2 point dogs at home shows how much respect we get from around the league.

Now they know to respect us.

Any time you lose a close game it is disappointing. It doesn't matter who you're playing against or what the general football public thinks/expects of your team. I have never been happy about a loss. That said, there are positives to take away and to build on. This Jets team IS impressing and showing courage and determination like we haven't seen in a long time!

Not to mention the fact that Mangini inherited an absolute train wreck from the previous coaching staff.

As for the pointspread issue, it's not the league that sets it, it's Vegas.

You are correct but to me its all one in the same. Making us that big of dogs just says that they feel our team sucks. I am also sure if you look around the league plenty of people felt we were not as good as our 2-1 record, due to the teams we beat.

I agree 100% Cman50. Fans really shouldn't expect to win every week, like Colts fans may expect out of their team, because for them, it can happen. It's the truth. Us, on the other hand, are a team in the making for the future. I mean, we do have a pretty good schedule coming up, so it's possible we can win a bunch of games this season. If we can go .500 this season, I will be pleased. We are in the rebuilding stage. The defense is progressing every week, the running game seemed great today(against the Colts of all teams), and Mangini is doing a great job. Sure, he may have made a mistake to go for it all on 4th and Goal, and it's okay to be upset because we lost because of that(I am still upset myself) but you know what, we have to move on.

I can think about things that I'd love to happen, but I know when to think about things that around really going to happen. BUT, anything can change within a single play. It is possible that the Jets get into the playoffs.

So stick through the tough times, because this team is very exciting so far this season, and anything can happen at any given time.

Correct Youth: I don't think the league has ever shown any respect for the Jets. Just look at their TV announcers - they shi* on the Jets any chance they get.

Yeah for real. Pennington completes a pass, "oh, he's playing like Manning." Mangini calls a great play, "oh, he's coaching like Cohwer." Jets recover onside kick after TD, "oh, they must have switched uniforms cuz the Jets are playing great."
Sorry Gumble, but Penny plays like Penny, Mangini deserves credit for what he has or wants to accomplish, and the Jets have always been green, and the Colts blue. The commentating was terrible.

Yeah. Shannon Sharpe, before the game, compared Mangini to a tranier of a horse (not a jockey) and that the Jets are muels and you can't win a race (SB) with muels.

what really killed us was the lack of pass rush on the final 2 Colt drives. can't expect our DBs to cover guys for six or seven seconds.

our front seven sucks at pressuring the QB. the only way we get pressure is by bringing the kitchen sink...where was bryan thomas today?

Cman,i agree. Great post. But i still can't live with how we gave the game away at the end. 1st year coach or 10th year coach,we needed to stop them on just 1 of those last 2 drives. No pressure,it was ridiculous. We had some things on D that worked the 1st 3 games that i didnt see once today. I will defend the moral victory in this game all the way up til the last 3 minutes. from there on i'm pretty disapointed.

    Good post CMan...

Look...Just about ALL of us agreed that the Jets fans have to be patient with this regime. Yes today was winnable, but that still doesn't mean you have to trash some of the people like people have on here...

The game was awesome. I was so proud of the team today. Great post dude, people need to take pride instead of complain we lost. I'd rather take a team the distance than get blown out. We're contenders, if you can't see that you're crazy.

a good point. the backers didn't stop the run. and, both sd and pitt showed that you can't just pass-rush 3 or 4 guys and give manning all day back there to throw.

let's also not forget that the colt's first td was set up by another chad fumble.
if mangini wants to go for it on 4th and goal, which i agree with, you run the option with brad smith, not chad. he either keeps it, hands off, or throws it away if no one is open. you give the colts back the ball inside their own 5 , not lob it into triple-coverage.
