I am not sure about the actual times deals have to be done like: What time will be know about Pennington? What time will the CBA have to be done? I saw on ESPNews other times besides 12:01 AM on Monday. Anyone have those other times?
The CBA as of now has to be done by 6:00 PM tonight. The new football year begins at 12:01 AM Monday Free agency could be pushed back again if they think they can get a deal done... Pennington's deal must be restructured before the new football year because he is due the 3 million dollar bonus.
free agencwill be pushed back again. When you get this close to a deal the almost have to delay the deadline again. With a new CBA there is a new cap, 110,000 - 115,000. Each time has to have a couple of days to re think with the higher cap $$. It's a good thing
Push the deadline back to get this done. Why not? Actual action doesn't start until September anyway. Better to do this the right way. Thanks for the information guys!
Don't know about you guys but I am becoming totally pissed off with this waiting around for info. Jets official site is as usual changing the picture every few hours with the same headline. Can we expect a press confrence sometime this evening?
point made...yeah of course I'd take the 10 mil instead but can't we have the 10 mil and have FA start at midnight also?
I'll bet that they'll get it all worked out by 6pm, most have been predicting that nothing will be announced till the very last minute anyway.
from KFFL new league year likely pushed back again. NFL | Labor deal getting closer; free agency to be pushed back to Wednesday? Sun, 5 Mar 2006 13:41:51 -0800 Mark Maske, of the Washington Post, reports negotiators for NFL team owners and the players' union were making progress Sunday afternoon, March 5, toward settlement on an extension of their collective bargaining agreement, sources familiar with the deliberations said. It appeared increasingly likely that the league would push back the opening of the free-agent market, scheduled for midnight tonight, for a second time, perhaps until Wednesday, March 8. Sources said the owners and players were progressing toward a compromise in which players would receive approximately 59 percent of a greatly expanded pool of league revenues as compensation under a salary-cap system.
