With the new practice squad rules, could they just designate Hill to the PS instead of cutting him? I am personally in favor or cutting him but the FO may feel that they can't just outright cut a 2nd rounder. I think Rex being burned on the McKnight over Woodhead decision (draft status over production) will prevent Hill from king this team over Salas.....or at least it better....
you can't just designate a player to p.s. he has to be cut/waived and then after clearing waivers he can be signed to the p.s. so the question is, would hill clear waivers if thats what the f.o. is thinking? not sure, but would be more than happy to find out
Times like this I just like to look at my profile pic and remember the good days even though it didn't last long. Oh and Hill is on his way out. Sad that a 2nd round pick was "wasted" on him. Luck of the draw sadly, just wish more picks from the previous regime would have panned out.
I don't believe that Hill is eligible for the PS since he's been on the active roster since he's been in the league and I think been active for every game he wasn't injured. I think 6 WRs make the team (Decker, Kerley, Nelson, Salas, Saunders and Hakim), although Hakim is really only a WR in name. For all intents and purposes he is a STs player only.
Idk how it's even a discussion about practice squad. How do people honestly expect a guy who has played many, many regular season games to be eligible? Baffles me..like have you never watched football? Haha
Actually they just changed the rules so that 2 extra guys can be on the squad who have been eligible for under 32 games. So Hill and Simms both apply
Yep, as stated, as long as they clear waivers. But also remember, from how it is worded, only TWO players can fall under that scenario, the other 8 would still fall under similar rules as it were previously (6 games instead of 3, though), I assume.
Hill wouldn't even pass waivers. A team would pick him up for sure. He IS practice squad eligible however. A new rule was added that enables 2012 and 2013 rookies for this year.
I disagree...I think that they finally go with production over draft status. Hill has had PLENTY of opportunity to show his stuff. With his health back to 100% I would have expected to see at least 5 to 10 caught balls this preseason. TWO......T W O catches!!! Absolutely unacceptable. I am absolutely tired of this woulda, coulda, shoulda crap. Hill has been a tremendous disappointment and Salas has earned the spot. Idzik's whole mantra, since he got here, has been competition. What kind of message does it send when a guy has out performed another and he doesn't get the job when it is clear as glass. It's not like it's close either.... Gates should be pounding the pavement too with Hakim locking up the last spot and P/K return duties.
Considering Hakim probably won't get a ton of snaps at receiver, I don't think it's ridiculous to carry 7 receivers. Imagine if he was a running back instead, it probably wouldn't be much of a discussion and Hill and Salas would be on the team. I think a different question is if we had to choose between Hill and Daryl Richardson, who would we pick.
Richardson.he may not see the field but if ha has to, we know he can produce. 3 full training camps and the same questions are being asked about hill. time to move on
