http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/art...dy-to-Go/db81c29f-095e-4d94-b777-474e75672087 It felt like a breath of fresh air to read an article that wasn't all about the writer trying to stir the pot and create some type of controversy to report, but instead just a nice little insight on a crucial but often forgotten unit of our team. I had no idea that Quigley had the 2nd best punt distance average in team history last year or that we have a new STC this year.
IMO, ST will either win our season or tank it. They haven't looked good in PS. I mean win, by leaving us with good field position and our opponents with bad field position.
I think you're right. We haven't always had a great punting game but Quigley seems god awful. Shanks way too money punts off the side of his foot for net gains of like 27 yards. I don't seem the harm in taking flyers on 7th round punters and I never understood why teams don't do it more.
With 10 picks this year, I thought we were going to take a punter in the 7th (or even 6th). Guess our team has faith in Quigley. I miss Weatherford.
Yep, if 38.9 yards net was the 2nd best in Jets history, that's pretty sad. 38.9 yards was good for 23rd in the league last year. http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/punting/sort/netAvgPuntYards/year/2013
