... if you are a Jets fan, you need to watch this entertaining and informative video on ESPN. Say what you want about ESPN "hating the Jets", but when the stupid NY media is all over the place on the state of the team, you can always count on ESPN to be the voice of reason, or to sum up what smart fans are screaming about but never hear the Rich Cimini's and Mark Cannizaro's in NY say.

I watched the video and jotted down some of the key points they made:

"Rex Ryan has been sabotaged, Rex Ryan has been screwed over, it's the bottom line"

Idzik is a waste, he's just a waste, he has to go.....NY Jets fans need to boycott...fireman Ed doesn't want to represent the team anymore....they are a disgrace!

Idzik should go before Rex should go....looking at Rex and what he has to work with, he has no secondary. No secondary! The word sabotage is appropriate; who would put a HC of Rex Ryan's caliber in a position where your lead CB is Dee Milliner, to let Antonio Cromartie just walk out the door, and we saw what he can still do when healthy...to put Rex in that position, it is definitely Idzik who needs to go....Geno looks worse than Tim Tebow (Bayless quickly pointed out that Tebow was winning with Denver!)......Woody Johnson should be arrested for charging ticket prices!"

THE WHOLE FOOTBALL WORLD KNOWS THESE THINGS, WHY IS NEW YORK SO FRIGGIN STUPID WHEN IT COMES TO FOOTBALL AND THE JETS IN PARTICULAR!!!!!!!!

    Great, another boycott thread.

Folks have been whining about boycotting the Wilpons and the Mets for years, that stadium has been a ghost town almost since they built it.

How's that boycott rallying working out there.

I wanted to change the title of this thread.....it's really about how frustrating it is to A) have been raised a Jets fan, B) be stuck with the clueless NY media which knows NOTHING about how you build a winning football franchise, C) be rooting for a team so cheap it won't even build its own stadium!, and D) I have to rely on ESPN articles and videos about the team for intelligent commentary on this football hell I was basically born into! :(

Except that Woody is more sensitive to fan base emotion and less aloof than the Wilpons,

I don't think he gives a shit about the fanbase, really. And I don't hate him as an owner, I just don't think in general pro sports boycotts ever work and certainly never have the consequence that's intended.

If Woody didn't give a shit about what he perceives to be the will of the fan base, we wouldn't havve gotten Brett Favre and Rex would've been fired last year.

Woody likes to collect toys so he can sell their image to the fans--Favre was 100% about PSLs as was Tebow. And Woody likes to hang out with the cool people and I think he genuinely likes Rex because he makes him feel cool.

Boycott all you want, it's not going to move the needle a steenth.

I'm not for a boycott either, but I think Woody is getting the message, which is why I think he blows it up at the end of the year.

the only thing would force Woody's Johnson's hand to actually listen to the fans is lack of revenue

the Jets are, after all, a business

that means forgoing your season tickets, refusing to go to games, to buy the Geno Smith jerseys (LOL) etc.

if you forked over $25K for a PSL I guess you are just stuck (??) or you could try to sell it somebody in the free market for like $10 maybe

You realize how much of his revenue comes from TV money that's split with all the teams? The jersey sales?

Ticket sales, parking and concessions is gravy and since he's got most of the tickets sold, a few thousand boycotting fans (who are just selling their tickets to the away team) will have a minimal effect.

    Boycotts don't work.

    Boycott is like voting

Dumb people say your vote doesn't matter

Empty stadiums for 2 years WILL matter

Not to the wallet, but to something bigger

To the ego and Pride of the rich bastard who owns the team

Depending on where you live, oftentimes voting does not matter. In precincts where one party is in the 90% supermajority, a vote by any of the 10% super minority's does not matter. Hell even a 60% majority and it doesn't matter. You think a Republican's presidential vote in California matters? Minnesota? A Democrats vote in Alabama?

By contrast, dumb people think NFL stadiums will be voluntarily empty for 2 years.

And that the ego and the pride of a rich bastard who owns a team could be influenced by a lol-boycott.

    Rather than money.

ESPN is the last place I go for anything. I don't even go there for highlights, I'll watch NFLN. The place is a sewer and has been for almost 20 years.
