Thank goodness we didn't draft Benjamin or Matthews

Pryor was brought in to be a box safety and has had to play deep coverage all year. That's not his game. He has had to play more coverage because of all of the injuries at corner, but it's not fair to call him a bust already when he isn't even being used in the right way right now. That being said Idzik, still should have taken a WR. That was our biggest need by far. After that is was CB and TE. He addressed TE in the 2nd and CB in the 3rd, but going Safety in the 1st was Idzik's worst draft mistake so far. I won't knock him for guys like Evans, Milliner, and McDougal getting injuries because that shit happens, but taking a Safety when we really didn't need one was weak as hell.

It's irrelevant what Pryor turns out to be. The point is we were 30th and 31st in passing offense in 2012 and 2013. Since there are only 32 teams in the league, you'd think our GM would be able to grasp the gravity of the situation. We're sitting there with three picks in the first 80, in a pool loaded with top level WR talent, and this fucking imbecile uses two of them to draft DBS!!! Who does that?? If you have a brain in your head, you just don't do it.

Eh, it's a legitimate gripe. WR was a huge weakness even after signing Decker and there was an abundance of WR talent available in the draft. Basically the FO thought Stephen Hill and David Nelson were good enough. BTW, neither of those guys are on an active NFL roster as of Week 10.

The amount of talent that Idzik passed on in this past draft was astounding. That draft was supposed to be the beginning of the rebuilding of this roster with young, inexpensive talent and he completely botched it.

    Dead on.
With the number of draft picks, the pool of talent, and the amount of money we had to spend, this offseason should have one of the best in team history ... An easy slam dunk ... but our incompetent GM bounced it off his foot, out of bounds.

I studied the draft for a decent amt of time this past year. I read hundreds of scouting reports. I knew the names of most of the picks still being made in the 6th and 7th rounds. Our 3rd and 4th round picks were two dudes I never even heard of. Pretty sure most people who studied the draft hadn't either. Idzik tried to look smarter than everyone else by taking these guys and shot himself in the foot.

It's not just hindsight, so your comment is irrelevant and dumb. Many of us were screaming for a WR and offense in this draft, and there were many posters wanting at least one of those WRs taken by the Jets. Idzik screwed the pooch and us. If you can't see that, then you deserve Rex and mediocrity.

The good news is this upcoming draft is going to be loaded at most of our biggest needs on this team. So that is a plus. I'm not toooo worried about it and I'm not ready to declare the 2014 draft a bad one either. I really like McDougle, I think he could be a legit starter if he could only find a way to stay healthy. I'm curious to see how Evans does in the offseason. I have high hopes. Gotta have faith.

You really like McDougle and think he could be a legitimate starter? Based upon what, exactly? Practice reports from the very few practices he actually participated in? or is it the college film from 2 years ago? I thinking this is what we call blind faith..

Right now I'd say I am more hopeful for Marcus Williams than McDougle...

And the bad news is that the last draft was more than loaded at most of the biggest needs of this team and they swung and missed. So unless someone else is calling the shots next year I am not going to be optimistic about the draft. The secondary and offense are horrible. Look for Idzik to take an injury prone LB or something early on because of "good value"

That's why I want to clean house. It's his 2nd draft, this isn't going to change anytime soon.

The fact that we also needed a TE is mildy interesting but should have clearly been subordinate to the need for a playmaking WR. Unless said TE is "transformational" (Gronk, Graham, Thomas) than it clearly should take a back seat to a WR who can make plays. The Giants found as good or better a TE as an undrafted free agent. Countless playoff teams have TEs with modest draft pedigrees. Amaro may be a "nice player" but has shown no indication of being a "playmaker" (on a team that pre-Harvin had zero playmakers), but there are at least a dozen WRs from the 2014 draft class that I'd rather have.

Yeah sort of the opposite of picking your franchise QB from a poor class -but all to the same effect!

we could have Jerry f'n Rice on this team and it wouldn't make a difference.

who is the Benjamin / Matthews that Brady throws to every week? That's right he doesn't need one.

we need to draft quality OL

His talent. The kid has talent, regardless of how you try to paint the picture. If he can stay healthy, he has a chance.

He will probably try to coax Marcus Lattimore out of retirement.

Rob Gronkowski? Probably the most dominant receiver in the NFL currently?
