Jay Cutler. Heard the Bears may be looking to part ways with him after the season. If true, it wouldn't shock me if he landed on the Jets. He'd definitely be an improvement and make the team better, but still would like to draft a QB in 2015 or 2016 to groom. Most likely would need to give up a 1st for him and would need some better oline play so we don't have see more smoking cutler meme's.

Id rather roll with Vick for one or two more while having a draft pick learn.

    Cutler would train wreck here.

Jay Cutler would be an absolute disaster with this team.

It is in a metaphorical sense, as it would be such a classic "JETS" trainwreck of a move........

    FUCK JAY CUTLER

You have to qualify the term disaster here given the state of the Jets QB position now and in recent years.

Would he be Neil O'Donnell bad and with similar results?

Because we've had much worse than Neil O'Donnell under center for the Jets over the last 4 seasons.

The same could be said about any QB coming to this team

I think I'd rather have him than Vick on a one year deal.

Dont know if he's a "one year QB" type of bad though.

I'm guessing Cutler goes for a 6th if the Bears trade him. Nasty contract to deal and the Bears are on the hook for some of it still in the form of guarantees. I think they move him very cheaply.

Not sure if making that kind of deal would be good for the Jets or bad. Cutler has tremendous talent but also goes into deep funks at times. It's not clear that he knows what it takes to win games at any level. Was a great college QB on a terrible team.

On the other hand if the light goes on for him and he suddenly figures out what a team needs from him to stay on an even keel he could be a tremendous late career QB.

Vinny Testaverde. That's Jay Cutler's guiding light if he wants to be anything more than a footnote by the time all is said and done.

I dunno. Farve and his cannon didn't do all that bad for us. Perhaps he shouldn't have sent that selfie to Sterger but other than that, when he was healthy, the Jets did pretty good on offense. Waaay better than what we've seen over the last several years anyway. Why not bring in Cutler to hold the fort and perhaps prove he can still be viable in the league? As long as Idzik doesn't overpay for him (like he'd ever overpay for anything ever..) I'm good with the move. This offense is already a trainwreck. Cutler could be no worse than either Vick or Eugene.

It all depends on what the Jets new coaching staff looks like. In order for Cutler to be successful, he needs a QB guru who can really spend a lot of time with him. Even in that case, I still think he's highly questionable. The guy's been around the league for a long time now and has never really put it all together. He's not going to suddenly turn it around here. Pass.

He really couldn't produce much with weapons like Marshall, Jeffrey, Bennett and Forte. Probably some of the struggles has to do with coaching but still, I don't think he is worth his current contract. I would roll with Vick another year and draft either Mariota or Winston for future.

Brandon Marshall. Alshon Jeffrey. Matt Forte. Still as inconsistent as ever. Now imagine the NY media...

Idk - you may be right. But the guy has talent and is still young. He could turn it around. With a Rex Ryan coached team yes I believe Cutler could be a disaster. But who knows what next year might bring. A low key, under the radar offensive coach with a QB friendly system could allow Cutler to settle in here. He has the arm/style to be successful in the Windy Meadowlands.

Right now it looks bleak for Cutler but that team is a disaster all around. He needs to get out of there. It would be a major turnaround if he was ever to be successful here but stranger things have happened.

the bears replaced lovie smith, their beloved defensive coach for mark trestmen, a supposed offensive coach. even with play makers all over the place like forte, marshall, jeffery, bennett he still turns the ball over at a high rate. we have a better receiving corp this year but no where as near as good as that one.

Cutler is the kind of guy you want to run an Erhardt-Perkins. He has a very strong arm and can make all the throws even in weather. He gambles a bit and gets picked now and then on a throw he should have taken a sack on or thrown away. He's really best at stretching the field, particularly up the seams.

His entire NFL career has been spent in a WCO (Denver) or Spread (Chicago), offenses that he's not really suited to run well because they're read intensive and they punish you heavily for making an inaccurate short throw.

I wanted Cutler bad after the 2008 season. Interesting to think how far we could've gone in 2009 and 2010 if he was our QB. Who knows.

I do agree that he will be made available. But Im not sure if going after him is the right move. A lot of his success comes from the guys around him. Forte is far and away the biggest reason for a lot of his completions and yardage this year.

I think he's a better QB then he gets credit for. But he's never won a big game in his career. Just isnt a winner.

And under no circumstances is he worth a 1st round pick. With that salary and on the downside of his career a 3rd rounder at most!
