Where does that put the players relative to the league? Curious about where Sheldon ranks and where Geno ranks for example.
Dat D-line. LOL @ Richardson popping up at #4 on the offensive chart. We definitely need to address the RG position in free agency. With Aboushi developing on the left, would love to see a veteran on the right side. Also considering that Giacommini wasn't all that impressive at RT.
Jace is the 24th ranked TE Geno is the 29th ranked QB Decker is the 23rd ranked WR Kerley is the 82nd ranked WR Cumberland is the 46th ranked TE Ivory is the 20th ranked RB Johnson is the 30th ranked RB
One thing that stands out is our Offensive play count is 1110 based on Brick and Breno. Ivory's play count is only 454 less than half of the offensive plays he was on the field for and almost equal to CJ's 407. Basically sums up how idiotic we were on offense this year. Also Vick a little worse than Geno in overall and in pass. It is what my eyes told me, but many here think we would have won more with Vick. Nothing Surprising on the D side -- it is what everyone knows, top heavy on the front 7, bottom heavy on the DBs
I wouldn't. I think being a GM is not just about not whiffing on 1st and 2nd round picks; that should be the minimum [although, as Jets fans, maybe you're so used to gigantic whiffs that you're satisfied with merely not whiffing]. It's about signing quality players and not leaving your coach exposed at numerous positions just so you have $20 mil in cap room.
Oday looks to have some promise according to the chart. Far better than Winters. Maybe we only need 1 guard instead of 2. IK needs to get his role expanded next season.
If we stick him at RG and draft a OT high in the draft (to play RT his rookie yr) - I think we got something to work with in regards to the offensive line. We should look to acquire Iupati via FA.
If I paid for PFF I could tell you; unfortunately I'm not actually a subscriber. I do know, however, that for 2014 Sheldon ranks 2nd at his position, behind JJ Watt (Wilkerson is 3rd).
I disagree with some of the ways that they rank things. It's ridiculous that Ivory gets a low rank despite being good a rushing. Rushing is the main thing you look for in a running back, blocking and pass catching are secondary. I think Antonio Allen's bad performance was because he was forced to play corner, and that took time away from him being able to prepare and get more experience as a safety. I'm kind of surprised to see that Coples is rated that poorly. He doesn't really look promising so far, unfortunately - but maybe in whatever the new defense is he'll be able to play at his natural position and do better.
Most Most of Coples negative rating is against the run which can be attributed to playing him out of position. If you look at his Pass Rush stats - he had the same sacks, more QB hits and more QB hurries than Mo Wilk in less snaps.
Don't forget Aboushi. Once Milliner and McDougle are playing next season, people will begin to realize that Idzik's draft were okay at worst.
Didn't Giacomini play guard for the Seahawks? Maybe he's playing out of position. We need to draft a tackle who can take over for Brick down the road but will start off at RT and kick Breno inside. Then our line will be dominant if Aboushi holds up with competition from dozier and Dalton freeman.
But he graded out as slightly below average in pass rushing, -0.3. I think he'd rank towards the middle of the pack overall. With the 2nd and 3rd best d-linemen on his team, he should have had borderline pro bowl stats. Often he was just asked to rush the passer, meanwhile Mo and Richardson have to focus heavily on run defense and also deal with double teams on a regular basis.
Thanks for posting. PFF is obviously not perfect and you may have to dig deeper to get a fuller picture, but it's an excellent tool and read. Nothing way too shocking here, but to me the biggest surprise was - the safety play. Jarrett, Pryor and Landry all graded out quite well with both starters (Jarrett and Landry) grading out well in coverage. Surprised Pyror earned a pretty green grade too. Perhaps they can go forward with those three in 2015 - Ivory and CJ are a perfect example of needing to look beyond the overall; graded about the same except Ivory's running grade is a high posititve and CJ's is a low negative. So, he was better than his overall suggests. Validates my desire to see CJ cut, Powell resigned and a young back drafted. - Nice to see the receivers grading well. Interesting to see if Owusu can catch on next year. - Cumberland had a much worse grade than he appeared to by watching the games. Not afraid of Sudfeld and Pantale behind Amaro if they wanted to save 1.9M by cutting Cumberland - Brick breaks even haha. Better than I expected from him and I guess they can live with Breno for one more season, but they need to draft a young OT very high and perhaps another later to groom behind these guys. - Not bad at all for Aboushi in his first half-season as a starter. Maybe he fits better on the right side while a FA (hopefully Clint Boling or Orlando Franklin) takes the left side. - Harris grades well in pass-coverage... Go figure. Would like to see him paired with Davis, who has gotten better every year, in 2015. - Interesting that Reilly and IK graded positively. Idzik and Rex are looking better by the day haha. - Was hoping to see Williams grade out more positively, but still not a bad start to his career at all. Milliner and played fairly when on the field too.
